Dining Out??

OK..I am almost 2 months out and I am doing really good. I just have one problem. I am bored with the food. Nothing sounds good anymore. Yesterday I had a yogurt and about 4oz of Chicken...that's it. Today I had a yogurt. Nothing sounds appetizing anymore. I even think I heard my pouch growling....it wants food but I don't know what to give it. Yesterday I stood in front of the fridge with both doors open for 20 minutes him hawing about what I could have. It's stocked full of food and nothing sounded good. I grabbed a yogurt and went to work. I did the same thing today. I know this sounds really stupid but I want TACO BELL. I know I don't need it. I know that it is part of the reason I am this way and had to have surgery but a soft taco sounds so good right now. I'm not going to have it but I can't not eat either. I tried Wendy's Chili a few weeks ago and threw up. About a week ago I had a plain cheeseburger minus everything including the bun and it was ok. Is it normal to start wanting a different variety of things? I would just kill for a Diet Pepsi right now. I'm not going to have one but it sure would be nice. I have been drinking only water and diet ice tea for 6 weeks. The ladies here at work look at me like I'm nuts because they are always eating. I wish they understood. Is this normal? Maybe I just need to get my head checked!!

Try Water with Crystal Light. Its very good. You sound like me in the beginning. Actually, Taco bell is the best option if you DO go out to eat. I have a List of Fast foods that are good for you, that Barix gave me. And taco Bell and subway were the 2 best on the list. Just make sure you take the better option than the greasy one! Just eat slowly, and take it day by day! Kimberlina 273/188/145

Ok, so I'm having Taco Bell. I checked the nutrition information and I can do a Chicken Soft Taco or Pinto's N' Cheese. It will be fine. I used to love Crystal Light and now I can't stand it. I've even tried to water it down and it just tasted horrible. I've tried the Diet Ocean Spray, Crystal Lite, 100% Juices and nothing tastes right. I even have a hard time with water sometimes. It's very wierd. I thought this thing with your taste buds only lasted the first few days. Thanks for the info. Stacey

I am almost 7 months out and when I do get Taco Bell I order the beef encherito (it is like 12g of protein) and it is a perfect size for a meal (at first I could only eat half, but now I can eat the whole thing and be full!) . I like Taco bell as far as fast food because the shells are not as filling as say a bun or bread from else where. Like Kimberlina said just take it slow! Jennifer -118 and still going strong

So I just looked up the Beef Enchirito and although it has 19 grams of protein the fat is horrible. It is 18 grams of fat. My patient manual says I have to stay under 10 grams of fat per meal. I got a chicken soft taco and it's only 2.5 grams of fat and 14 proteins. It seems to be staying down and that's the best part.

WHAT!!?? I just looked at my nutrition guide I printed from their site and it says 12g protein and 8g fat.......that is for the Fresco style (they don't add sauce and instead of cheese put a onion and tomato "salsa" on it. It is a healthier option for some of their menu items. Personally fat is not one of the things I watch right now, just so long as I say at about 30% or less for the day....but every Nutritionist and program are different! I am glad you found something that hit the spot and agreed with your pouch!!!

You can have taco bell because you now will only be able to eat a little bit and then you will be full. Don't force yourself to eat more. Listen to your pouch. I try to stay away from burgers because they are grilled. I cannot tolerate anything that is fried. No grease for me. Stay away from soda, just sugar and coloring. And a good cause for gas! Yikes that hurts! Some people can burp, some people can't. I eat alot of chili now. Good source of protein. Another thing I just ran across the other day was Salmon Quiche balls. They are soooo good, lots of protein and a couple will do you. Good Luck and just have patience. I know it is hard but you can do it!

Hi Phyllis; Here is the recipe I used: 1 pkg Pink Salmon (I use Chicken of the Sea) 1/8 c chopped onions 3 eggs 3/4 baking mix ( I use low fat bisquick) 1 1/2 tsp parsley 2 C American Cheese (You can use Low Fat) Grease mini-mini muffin pan ( I use spray olive oil), Beat eggs together, then add all ingredients, Mix well. Scoop out with melon ball scoop and put in mini muffin pan. Cook at 350 degrees 10-15 minutes or until they are golden brown. YUMMY!!!!!!!! I can eat about 2-3
