Giving Up On Protein???
Hi Rhonda,
Have you tried going to a health food store to find cheaper alternatives? I usually have 2 -3 drinks a day. I really feel it helps me control myself when I do eat my meals so I don't overeat. I'm going on 3 yrs post op and still have them. I feel like it is part of my grocery bill.
Take care,
Carey
I get 60 - 70 grams of protein from my meals. I use Fitday.com to keep up with it. I haven't had a protein drink for 3 weeks. My NUT didn't want us to do them anymore unless we're at the end of the day and not have enough protein in. I eat 3 meals a day and a snack so it's pretty easy to do the protein. If I need to, I will add some AnyWhey to my breakfast yogurt but other than that, I get it from my meals.
Hi Rhonda, how much protein do you get from your food intake daily?
If you break down the total cost daily for your Syntrax Protein it comes to around $3.50 a day. I know $125 seems like a lot of money in one shot but split by 36, you are getting your protein for less than the cost of a meal at a restaurant.
I know we all have different likes when it comes to supplimenting. I myself use the cheap Body Fortress from Walmart. I use chocolate and vanilla. I make my shakes with milk and then I add frozen berries or cherries depending on the flavor. I also use Beneprotein which I think I spend about six or seven dollars for a container and one serving size is six grams of protein. I use that in cereal, yogurt, and pudding. Granted the texture does seem odd but I have not noticed much difference in taste.
I am lucky that I like the Body Fortress because I have pretty much spent the last five months on a full liquid diet due to recurring strictures. These shakes are my fuel for the day basically.
I hope you can find something you enjoy and is more economical for you. Maybe you can also introduce more protein loaded food into your diet. Best of luck Rhonda.
Positive vibes to you
Megan
dang! i was so sure i fixed your problem for you!!!
whatever it is, i hope you find help because it worries me that you aren't eating at this stage of your journey, i am under the impression that if we aren't eating there is a problem either medical or an eating disorder *worried*
i hope you are okay Rhonda. You really need protein or you'll digest muscle tissue and that includes your heart and other organs. don't make me come over there and feed you chicken soup!

Thanks for your concern Jay. It's some days I can eat, and some days not. I'm afraid of grazing and not eating what I should be.
There was a family emergency a few weeks back and I think it might have triggered some of my 'emotional eating' habits.....
I wanted to walk at Lakeside, but of course I am the one that all the responsibility falls on when a crisis happens.
The protein is just part of the problems - it just seems like a HUGE burden at the moment. I've been on disability for over 16 years (and I'm only 45) and am on Medicare and Social Security. The whole thing is very depressing....
I guess I'm looking for something that tastes fairly good, doesn't costs as much and I won't get burned out on...
