Medicaid

I have medicaid , molina , well my Dr tried to get the wls aproved and thay called and told me that medicaid dont pay for it ?? now I have talked to several people that have had it done with medicaid ! where do I GO FROM HERE ?? I can not afford to get any other insurence ...but I need this surgery done ...anyone have this problen ? where do I go from here / Sherry

Sherry, It all depends on the plan. STRAIGHT Medicaid does pay for it (you must meet criteria though), however many Medicaid participants have a managed care program as their insurance (my kids do, but I don't), I believe that most of these do NOT cover it. I would look into it more if I were you. I only know for sure about the straight medicaid. Good Luck. Shawn M.

hi sherry i have medicaid and i had the surgery last dec. i have great lakes insurance as my carrier . it took 8 months to get approved but as long as you meet the critera you will have no problem ..im 100 lbs away from goal but have last 130 so now my surgeon is starting the process to get the tummy tuck covered so if it takes 8 months agin i should be at goal and all set. i had molina and they dont cover anything you might have to wait till may to change to great lakes.. good luck

Have you called Medicaid to find out for sure that your policy covers the surgery? Don't rely on hearsay, find out for certain directly from your insurance company. Good luck, Pam
