Allergic Reaction?

Hi Everyone. I was wondering if anybody has had an allergic reaction to Actigal? Ever since my surgery (june 22) I have had an ichy rash on my chest (just below the neck).. it's driving me CRAZY! I have prescription strength cortizone...nothing, benedryl anti-itch stick, nothing... Extra Strenght Lanacain....nothing....and a few other ointments.. NOTHING.. It doesn't really get any worse...but doesn't go away either. I asked my PCP about it when I was in for my kidney infection..she looked at it and just shrugged her shoulders..told me to keep putting cream on it. (Okay..so I switched to her because she was WLS friendly, not because she is the best "rash" expert!).. I finally ask the pharmacist the other night when I was ready to buy one more round of anti-itch cream of some sort, and she said it could be an allergic reaction...duh! SO.. I'm taking Bendryl by mouth and it seems to help the itch a bit..but I still have the rash (just sorta rough skin and a little red...no blisters or anything like that).. so then I was thinking...what have I been taking regularly since surgery that I didn't take before... well, vitamins and actigal (for my gallbladder)..that's all I'm taking. I can't imagine the vitamins (Flinstone Chewables) would cause it unless I"m allergic to the dye in it or something...but what about the Actigal?? Could I be allergic to that??? I'm going to try to not take it just for a couple days to see if it helps..but does anybody else have any input? Blessings, Kim

Kim, I cannot have the generic of Loritab. Name brand is okay, but something with the generic I cannot do. My PCP thinks it could be the binding agent. Could be the same with your situation. The binding agent for either could be causing you a problem. Try switching your vitamins for a while and see if that takes care of it. If not, I would then try switching to something than the Actigal. If none of those work, you might want to get tested for allergies. Good luck! Michelle
