anyone here in Michigan have a parrot? I had one in florida and now am thinking about getting a parrotlet but wondering how they fare in this climate. still just in the wondering phase. i need to look into it more. especially the climate thing and how to protect them from the dogs (we have two terriers.) I used to have a yellow naped amazon. i miss him.

Jay, I bought a Parrolet about 15 years ago. I had it home for about 10 minutes. My daughter was 2 years old at the time. The bird flew off my finger and she freaked out. She started jumping up and down and subsequently stomped on the bird and killed it. I'm sure the climate wouldn't be a problem as long as you don't stomp on it's head. Jon

Friday is the anniversary of Mel and i meeting in person for the first time and saturday night i have a sleep test (if it was tonight i'd flunk!) but i think we're free saturday morning.

Jay, I had a paraket once, that lasted about as long as Jon's. She was bought as a companion for an older male who just beat her up. When we got her all she'd do is sit in the cage and shake. Since I wasn't interested I didn't remember the date. Jeanne

as a kid i had canaries and parakeets but i REALLY want another parrot. there's no comparison. parakeets are really budgies, they just call them parakeets because they resemble little parrots. parrotlets are little parrots. for real. my sister has a ****atiel and treats it like a parrot but it's like the difference between a hamster and a dog. now i don't really know about a parrotlet but i'm reading they are real parrots and have the same characteristics as amazon parrots. i hope so. i really want an african grey but they're too darn expensive.

Hi Jay, I have had a umbrella ****atoo for nearly 15 years now, she does really well here. My pyschologist has many birds in his office, for nearly ten years he had the most adorable pair of parrotlets, they did realy well, think they even had a couple of clutches. Have you considered tyring to locate a bird rescue? Freinds of mine got a blue &gold Macaw through rescue a couple of years ago? Connie
