Hi! I am three months post-op and here is my story. I am down 75lbs,size 24 to a 16 and a L in tops.I feel great except I am hungry ALOT!!! Anyone else with this problem? I was hungry--not head hunger. I am easily satisfied--doesn't take much.... but usually hungry hungry in about 2 1/2 hours again. I drink a lot of water in between meals, but it doesn't fill me up like it used to. I can eat just about anything but still have a hard time with red meat. Once in a while I get a bit mouth watery....depends on how well I chew. But my nut said to eat 3 meals and a snack and I think that I am really doing 4-5 "snacks" a day instead.... I walk just a bout every day--that part is going well. I guess I am just afraid that I'm gonna gain it all back anytime I eat too many things in a day. I have slowed a bit in the losing dept.which is really okay with me---I kinda like this size and I am off all my meds now except potassium and prenates which are lifers for me. Anybody where I am?

Hi Mari, I am in the same boat you are. I am 6 months post op, and go to my SG meetings and listen to others that had surgery before me say they can still eat only a tiny bit. I don't/can't eat a lot at one time, but I can munch all day at work. I make good choices with my snacks, but my little pouch starts to rumble about an hour after I eat, no matter what it is. I wonder if it's just the way we are. Brenda

I am 15 months post op, and found early on that I was hungry but not hungry. If that makes any sense, I wanted food to eat, but really didn't know "what to eat". Or why. I am now, never hardly "hungry" hungry. Meaning I have to literally force myself to eat and then when I do, I wonder why I'm eating. Perhaps its the adjustment your body is so use to eating ....and also, being a WLS Patient, we need to eat smaller more frequent meals to keep hydrated and nutrients going in....so I don't think it's an issue eating more often at all. Matter of fact, I do some nibbling or munching every 2-3 hours myself and find it perfectly normal. We have been trained for SOOOOOOOOOO long to eat 3 long huge meals, now, we change that to 5-7 meals that are soooooo much smaller, we still are adjusting inside. Don't fret over it, just keep your hunger fed by eating the "Right" things and not the "bad" things.....that's the key. This WLS, is a tool.....use it properly and how many times you eat as long as you watch how much and chew chew chew....is fine! Stacey W

Mari, I am almost 3 years out. I don't ever really get hungry as such, but my sugar drops really low (30-40) and I need to eat. I have found that if I eat every two hours I am okay. I don't eat a meal every two hours, but do eat something. I will keep protien bars on hand and usually have 1-2 of those a day but I usually have string cheese or even a slice of cheese or maybe a yogurt. You don't have to eat much, but because our bodies process food differently now, so we need to eat differently. I really struggled with this because I was afraid I would start to gain again, but I found out that our bodies go into starvation mode much like before, only now it will do it faster, so if you eat every two hours your body gets rid of what it needs to instead of hanging onto it. I have began to lose again since I started eating this way. Hope this helps. Peggy
