I am hoping to schedule my surgery for late Nov/early Dec. I would like to know what I can expect 8 months post op. My daughter is getting married in August and I'd like to have an idea of where I may be with eating food. I know I won't be eating much, but as we look at food for the caterer, I am thinking probably baked chicken will most likely be my best bet. No pasta, honey ham etc. I am guessing I should be feeling pretty good by then.

Karen, from what I remember chicken would be fine. Pasta takes up too much room and is a little heavy. Go with the chicken and worry about having a great time and enjoying your new body at the wedding, not to mention your gonna have a lot more energy to have fun! Good luck :)

You can eat pretty much everything at 8 mos out. I never had a problem with ham (i am allergic to honey though). any meat that isn't fried is good, grilled or baked like roast, chicken, steak, etc. Seafood is a good choice too. If i eat baked chicken it has to be tender and juicy. a little pasta or potatoes don't hurt you, you can't consume enough of it to hurt you. I like wedding that do buffet, that way i can pick from a few choices. Hugs Linda

You're right , this site is awesome and filled with the best ppl i've met in my life. I wouldn't worry about the food aspect at the wedding, you'll figure it all out. i'm sure dancing your socks off at your daughters wedding will be a major wow moment in your journey, enjoy it. You cannot even imagine how much your life is about to change, it's incredible. Hugs Linda

you'll feel fine. by then you'll know how to eat and what foods you can handle (it's different for all of us) and what foods you are willing to make a part of your lifestyle. and no matter what's on the menu you'll probably be able to find something to satiate you and make you feel like you participated in the feasting. no worries. congratulations on your daughter's upcoming wedding! just think of how good you're going to look and feel! you're going to be so proud of your daughter and yourself!

Hi Karen, Everyone is different, so are surgeon's guidelines to post op eating...........with that in mind....I was eating pretty much anything that I could tolerate, in teeny portions. Remember to take a smaller plate, and watch how much you eat, and how great you chew. Avoid greasy, carb filled foods and sugary stuff. Keep with the basics like proteins and small portions of other things and you should be ok. Baked chicken is good, but chew it well as poultry is a sticky meat and could possibly get stuck- well, it did in me. Some form of potato might work - creamy yet smooth, and watch out for vegs with seeds. I was eating half a piece of bread by then, so a roll may not be bad but it is by far least important. And I could even tolerate nuts, and course grains. Just remember to chew good, and avoid things that are too dry, and enjoy the day!!! Stacey W

I was fine with most things 8 months out....just can't eat much at a time, and still chewing alot. Just take your time and you'll be able to sample things. Stay away fromt he desserts though!! (Don't want to dump at your daughter's wedding!) Also, I was 100 lbs lighter at 8 months out, so you have that to look forward to too!!!
