concerned friends
before i ever considered surgery for myself, a friend came to me to tell me he was going to have it done. i thought he was nuts and tried to talk him out of it. he asked me to attend his bariatric center's seminars. I didn't want to but he told me it was important to him and so i went. at the seminar my eyes were opened. i cried. i literally cried and i felt the pain and the hope eminent in that room. i saw it in the people's faces. i heard it in their stories.
try taking your friends to one of those seminars. perhaps it will help. if you can't do that try showing them some of the literature about the surgery. try showing them this website and others like it.
tell them how you feel. be honest.
if they're your friends, they'll listen. they might not change their minds, but they'll understand.
Jay put it wonderfully. The seminar is where my husband really got on board with me...set his mind at ease. It's too bad your insurance only will pay 10,000 but it is WORTH IT even when you have to pay the rest. And don't forget all the money you are going to save by not going out to eat for quite some time....no pizza deliveries, etc..!! That adds up quickly! You are doing the right thing Tamara!
