I have my full tummy tuck scheduled for Oct. 13th (I am not superstitious :) I am very excited but was wondering if anyone has had this procedure done recently. My question is, being that there is also some fat along with the excess skin, with the final result it the fat actually removed also or is lipo required. I keep forgetting to ask my surgeon. I am scheduled with Dr. Ellen. ANy input would be wonderful.. Thank you!

I had my tummy tuck done with Dr. Ellen. I didn't need any lipo. I had 11 pounds of skin removed. Along with removing the skin she also does an internal corset stitch which seems to pull everything together. It will be two years in Decmeber and my tummy is still as flat and tight as it was after I recovered. Make sure though you ask your questions when you go in for you re-op. If you have already done it, give them a call and talk to LeAnn or Heidi (PA's). Take care, Fran

I had my TT and breast lift with Dr. Vincent DiNick at Barix and he did a fabulous job - couldn't be happier. My surgery was last December. He did lipo as a part of my TT to make sure everything was nice and flat. I can't believe how flat, it has made such a huge differance for me. Best of luck Carey

i just had mine done on monday and I don't think they did any lipo but what looked like a huge ball of fat and skin is completely gone. They definitely took off the fat along with the skin and i think they said it only weighed 8lbs. it looks like far more though.

How are you doing since surgery? Where was your surgery at? I am going to Beaumont and am hoping for a positive experience. I am very optimistic on healing and am aiming to heal for a few days and get up and going.. Did you find the procedure to be very painful? Did you have a full or partial tuck? Good luck to you in your recovery phase, I wish you the best!!

I'm doing well. the surgery was at St. John's Riverview. I had a nice private room and doctors and nurses were really nice for the most part. The surgery was delayed by a few hours which was a bit stressful and difficult for my loved ones but it went well and i'm doing fine now. I'm up and about but i don't think i can consider myself even close to being healed, from what i hear that takes a few weeks not a few days. So try to be realistic on that score. My gastric bypass was much much less painful (it was a laprascopic procedure) but my neck surgery was much much more painful so it's kind of hard to rate the pain scale. It's tolerable, i'll leave it at that. As for full or partial... i don't really know. they cut me from hip to hip, took off the excess skin and tightened the muscles. from what i understand the term was "radical abdominal lipectomy". I don't know if that's considered partial or full. I didn't have one of those "anchor cuts" i keep hearing about but that's because the surgeon didn't think i needed one. Thanks for the wishes and i hope yours goes well also.

Well, that sure sounds like you had the full if the tightening of the muscles was done. I am having the same from hip to hip possibly a little into the back. My bypass was honestly a walk in the park. When I woke up I thought I was some sort of placebo case and he just nicked me with the scalpel a few times and that was it. It was wonderful and definitely changed my life. I have the confidence and energy with no health problems to do all activities with my kids so I am hoping the abdominoplasty completes me. What type of neck surgery did you have? I am contemplating fusion for 3 herniated discs.

i had 3 discs removed, bone fusion and a titanium plate put in back in May. the best i can say is that it no longer hurts worse than before the surgery but if i hadn't had it done i risked paralysis from the slightest accident and the nerve damage would've been worsening, it should now be stabilized and the doctor still thinks i should see a lessening of pain although i'm becoming very skeptical about that. The surgery iteself left me in absolute misery for months. Absolute total misery.
