Crying... :(
ok I know I shouldnt be lookin at others and comparing But I cant help it. I had my surgery in March 2006, and I dont think I'm doing "great" for weight loss. I mean i see these people losing 100+ or more and i'm here 6 months out way under...I thought it would be more. AM I doing something wrong? is this all i'm gonna lose? I feel like I failed. When did the weight stop for you all?
sigh...I cant stop crying...b/c I feel like i failed.

Kimberlina~
I also have lost slowly in 10 months ive lost 80# averageing 8# a month. My surgeon isnt real happy thinking I should be losing 15 amonth. My pcp is real happy with the slow steady loss> I should hit goal in about 5 months from now. If you are losing that is the important thing not really how fast. Everyone is different. Keep working on it and follow your drs instructions. 80# is a great loss! Hang n there.
As long as you are sticking to the program there is no way to fail. Make sure to get lots and lots of water, and remember , protein first, fruits or veggies, then the carbs. Some lose slower than others, it's okay . I am two years out and still lose. The ones who lose 100 pounds in six months started out way heavier than you. And remember the weight loss can pick up at any time. Now go take a walk.
Hugs
Linda
Hi Kimberlina,
I had my surgery in March also and just had my 6 month check up today. I complained about exactly what you did....EVERYONE is losing faster than me.
I was not doing well with protein the first few months, so I know that had something to do with it.
I wondered too, if this was it, and I cried thinking that I had this drastic surgery to still weigh over 200 lbs.
But in my saner moments, I know that it is very individualized....men lose faster....the more you weigh pre-surgery the faster you will lose at first.....a lot of things come in to play.
Don't worry about it. Let's try to keep a good attitude and realize that sometimes slow and steady is the best way.
When I felt so sorry for myself, I said that I would have never agreed to surgery if someone said I would lose less than 100 lbs and be done. Now, I just think of it as if someone had offered me a deal to lose as much as I need to, but it will take a year or so, or maybe longer..would I do it? Of course. I was overweight for years and years, and I can wait a little longer to get to goal.
Keep your *****singular, not double!!) up,
Brenda
hey-----when was the last time you lost weight like this --and know it wont come back! it all comes off differently for people......i can not lose an ounce for 4 months.....and then 10 fall right off.....and then i go thru the same thing, thinking i will never lose another pound.....and then it shifts again...........so it will come off when it is darned good and ready......just stick to the protien water and exercise! you have to do all of them to get the best benefit! hug----you are doing great! rae
Kimberlina,
I had my surgery in March of 05. I have lost weight slowly also and plateau all the time. Have now lost a total of 128 pounds after staying about the same for 3 months. We are all different just make sure to have your fluids, protein and the foods you should be eating. My husband is 4 and a half months out and has lost 98. Go figure there is no rhyme nor reason to it.
Keep up your great work.
Brenda and David
