2nd. Stricture already
Hey Cheryl I had 10 strictures after I had my surgery and many ulcers and Dr Foote is right when you are not getting in your nutrition call the office asap because you can get dehydrated realy easy. I spent the whole summer in and out of the hospital due to malnutrion and dehyradration and it all started from strictures and ulcers. Good luck Tricia
Hi Tricia,
WOW oh WOW...you have had 10 strictures?? OMGoodness, how are you doing now?? I will remember that advice the next time I start feeling that way, as it is very painful, and I wasn't eating anything. I was dehydrated, which isn't good. Dr.s know best, I just have to remember that. I hate to whine and whimper to them all the time, but see it is necessary.
Thanks for posting.
Hugs
Cheryl
Hi Tricia,
Glad to hear you are doing good with the revision. I just read your profile....WOW you sure have had a rough time. Are you doing much better now?? Was Dr. Foote at MMPC along with Blodgett the ones you didn't care for? Was it him that messed up your bowel track during surgery? Was that with your surgery 2 years ago?? I am so sorry you had to go through all of that, what a headache. But glad to hear you got things fixed and are doing better.
That sounds about right. Someone on the board - I can't remember who - had like 5 trips to get dilated. Some get'm and some don't. I started one and did the warm to hat tea trick and made it through. It was tough because everything I was eating or drinking got stuck for a while.
Keep up the good fight.
And remember that every day is and adventure.

Hey Kevin
Thanks for responding...never heard of the hot tea trick. Not sure if I could get that down or not, but might give it a try.
Not sure why some get strictures and others don't, but the Dr. said it was nothing I am doing, which is good. It stinks though...it really slowed down my weightloss, now have to get a new jumpstart back on it. Any ideas??
I will keep up the fight, and enjoy everyday to be a new adventure. Still don't regret the surgery, I just have to get beyond this humps in the road.
Hugs
Cheryl
Sure wish you were closer so I could join your saturday walks, they sound fun!!

KP------Just what is the, "warm to hat tea trick"? I haven't had surgery yet, but have never heard of this, is it a home remedy or what?
Thanks for the info.
Cheryl, I am sorry for your problems, but looks like they are getting treated and you are on the mend. We all have to face having problems, and it is great to have such a good support system that we have on here! I just love to read all the profiles so that I know what I might expect.
Later, Ann
Sorry,,,
Warm to hot tea. I drank some warm tea fairly quickly. When I knew that went through I drank some hot tea at about the same rate then drink a protein shake. The key was to see that the warm went through and then the hot went through. If it doesn't then you have to get a scope.
The warm tea sat for a second then I could feel it move. I drank some more and it went through rather easily. But before that I was pretty stuck and throwing up everything including protein shakes.
