i'm scheduled for a radical abdominal lipectomy at St. John's riverview monday morning and today the nurse told me it will take another 30-40lbs off of me. that's not actually realistic is it? has anyone lost that much more weight just by having a tummy tuck? i think she was severely overestimating. but man i hope it's true, that would be awesome especially as most of my excess weight now is around the tummy area.

it was actually the OR nurse who told me that but she said it was because the fat retains water???? So i'm not sure she meant they'd be removing that weight in fat but that over time my weight will go down because i'll retain less water??? sounded kinda screwy. i'll bet my panni is bigger than yours was. nah nah. i used to have one of those reverse butt things going on. i carried so much of my weight below the belt in front. and i don't mean in a porn star way. lol.

well the consult was actually in July but we decided to wait until after the summer. Last week i just talked with them by phone and said, "let's get er done." Besides i know kp and throw his name around. hahaha, his name "carries a lot of weight" even though he doesn't anymore.

Yep, I was told that too. Did it happen? NO. As a matter of fact, I asked how much they took off and they said they didn't know, they didn't weigh it or else they didn't put it on the chart. The doctor couldn't tell me. Anyway, I don't care how much they took, I still felt better having it off. I felt like hell for about a month or so afterwards though so unless its different with a man, enjoy the down time. At least u don't have to worry about looking like the opposite sex when they get done,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,unless they SLIP!! LOL. NO NAMES were mentioned here, so will this get put on the board? De As for getting it done so quickly, money money money.

i'm not worried if it's only ten pounds, the key is getting that skin outta here! oh and about money, my insurance pays dirt. they paid less than $200 to the surgeon for my WLS! The hospital did alright but the surgeon got ripped.

Hi Jay. I had mine done at Riverview/same doctor. In the pre-surgical testing, the doctor asked me how much do you think you will lose? I had no idea. He said the average is 8-12 pounds. He said most people think it will be a lot more. They took 12 pounds off of me. The pain was worse than WLS, but not having the panni that I had carried around from what seems like birth...is wonderful. Buy a belt, your pants are about to fall down! Diane

when i talked with the doc in July he said 20-30lbs and now the nurse said 30-40lbs but i don't think they mean just from the surgery as much as from a result of the surgery (meaning i'll lose more weight afterwards). I just never thought to ask, i was too excited! i bought some sweat pants for after the surgery (i've been told they'd be more comfortable during recovery) but am holding off on any other clothes purchases till after my recovery as I have no idea what size i'll be. I was tempted to buy a cool jacket last night that was on sale but i don't know if my jacket size will change too or just my pants size. Not sure what to expect in that area.

WOW.....30-40 pounds is a lot of weight. I had one and they took off 7 pounds! Not sure she was telling you the truth. I could be wrong but that sounds like way to much. Best of luck... Robin
