Advise Please!!
I had my surgery on the 5th. I am so weak and tired. I try my best to eat and drink but it is really difficult. I don't feel like eating, sometimes I just can't get it down. I went to the doctor yesterday for my 2 week check and they said I was so weak because I am not getting enough protein. I believe that to be true. The dietician is allowing me to eat limited soft foods I can have baked fish and very finely prepared chicken. Does anyone have any recipes, I have a real problem with the textures of pureed foods, they make me very queezy. If it is even slightly slimy I can not swallow it. So any advise would be appreciated.

I practically lived on cottage cheese, and it has tons of protein too. Carnation instant breakfast with skim milk is good too, no sugar added kind. Yogurt smoothies are good. I used to boil chicken and dice it up and put it in cream of chicken soup.
Have you tried protein powders and not liked them? It took me a good six months to find one i liked. Go to bariatriceating.com and order the sample packs, that's how i found some i like. Good luck, i hope you're feeling better soon.

I use Unjury Chocolate protein and it tastes like Nestles Quik. It's so good and it's 20 grams of protein. I mix 1 scoop with 4 oz of lowfat milk and I can get in about 3 oz now. (My surgery was on the 28th). I also live on cottage cheese. I also tried Salmon Patties. I got the recipe out of a bariatric cook book. You use 1 - 7 oz pack of Salmon (boneless and skinless), 1/4 cup hellman's light mayo, 1/4 italian bread crumbs...mix all together, seperate into 4 seperate patties and saute in 1 tablespoon of olive oil. Each patty is 14 grams of protein. They are very delicate and creamy and should go down nicely. Hope this helps.
