Help with doctor

I am feeling frustrated because my primary doctor does not want to approve surgery for me. My BMI is 47, I have hypertension and sleep apnea. I think his reluctance is a personal bias about the surgery. Any suggestions?

i went through that. so i got a new primary care doctor who had undergone the surgery herself. she was great and got things rolling for me.

Karen~ I went through the same thing too. I printed a list of all pcp's who took my insurance and were located in my area and then I started calling. I asked if they currently had patients who had gastric bypass surgery and if they supported them. I found a great husband and wife team not too far from me. I was surprised that most of the offices I called did support wls. Unfortunately, I just started off with a doctor who thought the liquid diet was the only way to go. Yes, Jay and Sandra, I too would like the names and locations of the docs you found that supported WLS. My PCP doesn't, although I think she'll write a letter for me, but afterwards I want to go to someone who understands special needs WLS patients may have.

Dr Pirzada in Pontiac is great with wls patients. He really goes the extra mile for me and helps whenever he can. He is out of poh and is right on baldwin road, not too far for you. his number is 248-334-4962 Hugs Linda
