Nails, Hair, and Skin
Wow what a difference a few months makes!! In January I was still losing hair left and right. My nails were growing fast but week and they constantly "onion peeled" I kept them very short because of it. My skin was very dry too!!!
Now, I've been at goal for about 5 monthsish and everything seems to be getting back to normal. My hair has grown back in to the point I'm going to have to get the back thinned out in order to keep my current hair style. My skin is no longer dry and itchy, it's just normal. And my nails are long and beautiful!!! I've never had long nails before, these look like they're fake they're so nice... and they're REAL!!! I'll have to cut them off next week when I start my college classes because I'm finding it VERY difficult to type with nails, but I'm enjoying them for now.
It feels great to finally feel like a normal person again!!!! (well, except for the TT healing - but that will get better too)

I was just going to post this question Laurie. Im glad you are feeling and looking back to normal! I cant imagine how that feels at this point. I am 4 1/2 months post op and my hair is falling out at a frightening rate. My nails are just as you described the onion peel and so I too, keep em short. I feared this would happen, and its s mall price to pay, I suppose, but instead of feelign self conscious about my weight, I know feel that way about my hair - its really thin!!!

My hair started falling out precisely at 3 months. It pretty much stopped at about 7 months, but lately I've noticed it is falling out a bit more, but not NEARLY at the rate it was. My nails are still paper thin, as they ALWAYS have been, my entire life. I've been taking prenatal vitamins for 4 years. They are prescribed by my pcp...so they don't do much for my hair and nails, at least not that I've noticed. Hmmmmm....I just keep making sure I get my protein in. I'm not at goal, but I have lost 130 pounds. It's amazing how different we all are. What's works for one, may not work for others. Tina
