Ulcer in my new baby pouch.
This past week I have been having lots of problems. I have not been able to eat anything, and IF I did get anything down, I threw it back up, or it hurt so bad, I was about in tears. At first Dr. Foote wanted me to be admitted to the hospital for tests and a ct scan. But then he decided he wanted me to have a scope done first. Dr. Baker did that. At 1:30 yesterday I had my scope done, he found that my opening was down to an 8 and it should be 15, then as he went farther down into my new "baby pouch" he found I had a nice size ulcer in there already!! WHAT...how on earth did that happen so fast with me being 3 weeks post-op and barely eating anything?? I am home, and didn't need to be admitted to the hospital...thank GOD, as I really didn't want to. I am on 3 different Ulcer meds to help clear this up. Has anyone been through this yet, and if so, how long did it take before you felt better??
Thanks, you are the greatest...

Hi Ann,
Yes Dr. Foote has me on Pepcid Complete from the day I came home from surgery. I just stopped taking it because of the other 3 meds I am on for the ulcer. I don't have the heartburn, and hope not too. I go back to Dr. Foote on the 28th, I have lots of questions for him, as this has me so stummped. I just hope it heals fast, as I still am having a hard time eating, and with not eating, my weight has been at a stand still.
:o( This is by far alot different than I ever thought it would be.

Hi Cheryl: I was nearly 9 months out when I started having that horrible burning. They started me on Prevacid. Worked for a while, then the burning came back and it got worse. I could kind of control it with eating every couple hours (usually yogurt), but ended up getting a scope at the end of June. Not an ulcer, but an irritation in the pouch. I ended up on the same three drugs you're on now. Things have been pretty good lately. I still have occasions when it will flare up, but the yogurt thing really helps me. They say there is a small percentage of us that produce more acid after surgery. The majority that had the acid problem before surgery have it disappear after surgery. We are those special ones! Take care and Keep up on the meds. Take care, write me if you'd like the site for WLS Western Michigan Yahoo, lots of us from MMPC on the site! Pam Rhodes
Hi Pam
I am sorry to hear you had this problem too. I am doing much better on my 3 meds, which is great. I can finally eat, and keep things down. So this is something that will always be in our pouchs then? Thats not fair, I never had problems prior to surgery, now my new baby is already sick. haha What is the site you are talking about, I would like to check it out in my spare time. Send it on to me. You are farther away, so that probably means you won't be doing their walk this saturday, right??
Thanks for posting, and look forward to checking out the site.
