Hello! I'm new here.
My name is Shawn. I'm 30 years old. I'm married, have 1 son (11 months). I've just started my lab band journey...my physician sent my referral letter to the surgeon today. I'm hoping to see the surgeon next week. I'm going to see Dr. Sabir. He's in Mt. Pleasant. I could actually be his first lap band patient in Mt. Pleasant (he's just recently started his practice here). I work in the recovery room at the hospital in Mt. Pleasant so I know him and he's very nice! I'm so excited. I would have this done tomorrow if I could. Pending insurance approval I'm aiming for 5-6 weeks until surgery. I know that is probably ambitious, but it's my goal! I look forward to meeting all of you.
Shawn
Hi Shawn and welcome. I understand about getting it done quickly once the decision is made. My surgeon and the program at St Mary Mercy in Livonia was awesome and Paula got the insurance okay very quickly for me. Scheduling some of the testing was what took me the most time, and it sounds like you have an inside track on that. Let us know how it all goes, and if we don't know the answers to your questions, we'll make them up.
Hi Shawn, my name is Shawn as well. I noticed a couple other Shawn's on here when I starte posting a few months ago, so I starting putting Shawn M at the end of my posts... I see I can't do that anymore.. LOL....
Welcome to the board. You will find that you will get lots of valuable information here. I am so glad that I found this board, it sure has helped me in my journey. I am also hoping to have my WLS in 6 weeks or less. I have been working on this since the spring though. However I had a few hitches come into play that I wasn't aware of with my psych eval, but that is all handled now.
Good Luck on your journey and hopefully you will be on the losers bench sooner than later.
