I am two weeks post op now and everything has been going smooth until yesterday. My doctor told me to start taking 1600 IU of vitamin D, so I went and bought soft gell vitamin D, 400 IU each. So everyday I will need to take 4 of them. Although the soft gell vitamin is small, when I swallowed them one after one, I felt that they get stuck in the pouch and I did feel sick for some 5 minutes. I tried to drink water to make the stuff dissolve, it took a while but it went through later. Few days before, I took Colace stool softner and the soft gell is slightly bigger, it went through without a problem. Is this normal? is the pouch opening getting smaller a bit? I went out last night and bought tablet form of the vitamin D so I can break it in half next time. I am scared Today I am supposed to start the pureed food phase and I am scared to try this phase. Any advice please is urgently needed.

At about two weeks pills would be harder to swallow. I'd get chewables yet at this point. At two weeks I noticed things going down a bit harder too, but I think it was just a bit of swolling and it should subside in a week or two. Just keep an eye on it. If liquids become hard, go get it checked out.

Hope everything get's better for you. Well I'm 1week 3days post-op. My Dr. has me on a liquid or chewable vitamin, I chose to take the liquid. So far everything is good, I had lap-band surgery.
