September 7,2006 I have just read Princess Stacey's story obout her journey, and I was just awsome and inspiring to read. My surgery date is October 9th, 06, I have been waiting for this for almost my whole life, sure I could lose weight, but it just came back everytime and always more, so now by the time I am 44, my weight is 289, that is a shock to me as I didn't get on scales before my first appointment with my WLS, if I had to weigh myself if I was getting my yearly physical, I would stand backwards on the scale and tell the nurse that I didn't want to know what it said. I have made jokes about myself thinking if I could make people laugh at some things that happen to fat people, they would think that being fat was ok with me. When deep inside I hated myself and the way I looked. I started thinking about having the surgery in 2003, and I just figured the insurance would never cover it so I would just not go to appointments that I made. This summer something just happened, I got sick of not even being able to take the garbage to the dumpsters where I live, I would be out of breath and would have to sit and rest, and the trip is probably 100 feet or less. So I finally went to a Seminar that Dr. Brian Gluck put on each month at the hospital. It was 3 and 1/2 hours long, and at the end he had patients of his that had the surgery and were at different stages of post surgery, and I knew that this time I was going to do it, I want my life to be worth living, and I want to be able to swim in Lake Michigan with my son, he is 9 and loves the beach, but we don't go much because its hard for me to walk in the sand and sit on the beach very long. So only 31 days to go!!!!!

Hi Mary...I am waiting on insurance approval right now for my WLS. I want to wish you the best of luck on your journey and I am sure you will be a happier and healthier woman because of this WLS! Hi Mary, I am SOOOO HAPPY to see someone else on here who is going to have Dr. Gluck. I had my surgery on July 17th. You are truly in great hands. I started my journey at 254 and was 246 the day of surgery. I am now down to 212. Do you go to support group??? There is one on Monday. I would love to see you there and maybe we could chat. I don't ever see anyone on here from around here. If you have any questions let me know I would love to help. If you need an angel I could help with that as well since you are so close!
