before I was just a blob....... but now Yup, I got CURVES!!! haahaa But really, we have a Curves in Sebewaing but after looking at it I didn't want to spend that much money for it. Our was priced just about like yours. The 79 fee to join, might be a half of deal right now. Ours is too. Personally I prefer to have a regular gym type. I wasnt thrilled with the way curves is, but that's just my personal opinion. Laurie

That price sounds pretty typical. My advice on curves...if you have never worked out or don't work our very much...then curves is a good place to start. A few years before I had surgery, I joined curves at 337 pounds. I dieted and worked out there three times a week and lost nearly 100 pounds in the course of 9 months. However, after a year, the workouts weren't "hard" enough. The harder you work, the more you'll get out of it. Which was great to begin with. But after so long, it just became harder and harder to get my heart rate up. The machines were too "easy". So, I joined a regular gym and began working out with weights and what not. I think curves gave me a great base for that transition. However, for various reasons, life got in the way and a few years later I had gained pretty much all my weight back and had surgery. Ba da bing. Ba da boom. Ok...probably more than you needed to know! Tina

i think Curves like anything depends on the fervor that you use in approaching the exercise...if you work hard on the machines and run in between to keep up you heart rate you can see some significant benefits----but if ya start talking and visiting while you are going through the circuit--you dont get the best benefit.....and then of course the issue becomes.......you must go......grin

I didn't want to take or find the time to do Curves or a gym. I bought a home gym from Dunham sports for $199.00 and I use it to strength train 3 - 4 days a week. I can do it on my own time and maybe do each exercise at different times of the early morning or after dinner.

It is definitly meant for those who are beginners. It would be a waste of money for someone in decent physical shape. My only other complaint would be the lack of versatlity and I fear the routine would get boring after a time. I like to have about 6 different workouts I can choose from depending on my mood. I have spent years gathering all of the necessities(including a pricey gym membership) to keep myslef motivated. I think it would be a good start as long as the contract length is about 6 months. I would not join for a year.

Pam, I go to Curves and enjoy it.."real women" go there. I am to the point now where its not enough for me. I am thinking about taking some type of aerobic class to do more cardio. Before I had surgery I joined and never went. Now I go 4 times a week. I paid $319.00 for a one year membership. Best of luck.. Robin

Hey Pam, I go to curves now. I had my surgery on July 17th. I enjoy it but I am a people person. For me it is just a fun place to work out at and I enjoy it and I get a great workout! The price's you have listed it what it at my curves too. Good luck, Di
