wow that is a good amount of weight. but everyone loses weight at different paces depending how well you follow your diet and how much you weighed in the start. And hair loss is normal due to the stress from surgery and you may not being getting enough protein in your diet. Up your protein and I bet the hair loss stops or at least slows down. I'm 21 also and I get my surgery on the 14th and hair loss is one of my big concerns too. But I have read up on it and a lack of protein is the main cause. So up that and things will get better. Hope this helps!!

I take 5000mcg of biotin - it's a Rexall brand that I got at Wal-mart. That may be one of the things that you can do to slow down your hair loss. I will be one year post-op on September 15th. I still take my biotin!

Teddy, I'm a little over 10 months out now. I have lost 186 lbs, but I did hit 100 lbs by 3 months. I too am losing hair like crazy. My hair was down to my waist and it is now not even chin length. I have been told that it will eventually slow down, just keep working on getting my protein (which I really struggle with) in. But yes it is normal in some people, but not necessarily everyone. Good luck!! Jeani V

Hi Teddy! First of all, I have to congratulate you on taking this pro-active ste[ of losing weight so early in your life so you can ENJOY your life! I wish I would have had my surgery so much sooner! Secondly, yes, unfortunately hair loss is very common with rapid weight loss and the trauma of surgery itself as well. The only thing I can tell you is it will grow back!!! There are differences in opinion if anything really can help with this type of hair loss, but I figure give whatever a try....can't hurt! Especially upping the protein. Helps with everything...healing, strength, etc. If it helps hair loss, all the better! I myself never really lost any hair to speak of....I know I'm lucky. But truly, it will grow back. You may just have to go to a short cut for a while. That's what's nice about being a guy!! You guys can have a buzz cut without anyone thinking anything of it! (Well, at least I'm assuming you're a guy with the name Teddy! I guess the name could be for a girl too! If so, no insult intended!) Hope something helps Teddy, and keep us posted on your great success so far! Hugs, Theresa

I lost quite a bit of hair at the beginning. I upped my protein and took hair & nail vitamins and it improved greatly in a few months. My hair was always super straight but the hair that grew back in was curly so I let it grow long. A couple of months ago I got it cut short agiain. Now it's growing in straight, just when I was getting used to the curls.
