I am getting my Greensfield Filter put in on the 7th and I am more scared of getting it than the actual surgery. If you had it done, how was it? And where did you find info about the procedure. I can't seem to find out much about it. I'm pretty scared though!!

Hi Angela Don't worry, the filter is a piece of cake. They do this a few different ways. One is they insert it somewhere in your neck and you are just a little stiff afterwards. Mine was put in through the groin. They offer you a local anesthetic, but i didn't want it cause i would have had to stay longer. It didn't hurt at all, just pinched a little. Then they insert dye to make sure its placed right, the dye makes you warm inside. Then you have to wait two hours laying down before you can leave. The hardest part was the wait. You're supposed to have someone with you to drive you home. It really is simple and actually the easiest part of this journey. Don't be scared. Hugs Linda

Yes I am suppose to be having it put into my neck and I think I will definately have the general anestetic. I have a real strong threshold for pain but I am a little weary of the unkown. I would rather spend a little extra time.

Mine was a bit of a adventure they went thru my neck but the thing got tangled in my heart . So they pulled it out and in about 5 seconds had it placed thru the groin. And it never hurt. The shot of local was more painful. The heart thing felt like indegestion was all.. Paul

Well thank you to everyone. I think I am ready for it now that I heard a couple of personal experiences. I hope all just goes well.

I had mine through my neck.....they gave me Versed and Demerol, I think. I slept through the whole thing. I heard myself give a little groan at one point, but I never felt a thing and the versed makes you forget it all anyway. Not any problem....back to work the next day. Good luck

Yes Angela, I know how you feel because I felt the exact same way! To be honest with you I worried for nothing. I felt a small needle poke and then it was numb, and literally it took about 10 minutes or less for them to place the filter and I was shocked when the doctor told me it was done. My neck was sore for about 3 days it felt like I had slept wrong and my neck was just stiff. Don't worry about it, its a breeze! Julie
