Dear all, I've had my surgery at William Beaumont thursday and I left the hospital on Saturday. It was tough being the hospital bed the first two days but things got better and since then I feel the improvements each day I wake up. I had my surgery with Dr. Krause, and everything went good. I have been trying to consume all the liquids and shakes that I am supposed to take the first two weeks, but it's tought. I don't feel hungry nor I feel the need to put something down my new pouch. However I know that I need to get close to 64 ounces of liquids a day, last night I think I got to that after sipping soups, shakes and water all day long practically. I have had some constipation and I am looking for advice from some of you. I have some stool sfotner but it's not liquid form and it's not a chewable tablet. Any advice in that department is welcome no regrets so far but it has been hard walking around, it hurts, my back hurts from not sitting comfortablly. I also developed cold and it's been difficult to not caugh. I have lost some 6-7 pounds and I have been tracking my progress in a spreadsheet with some nice chart. you all have been wonderful and supportive all this time, this website is a great resource!! it really it.

I'm not sure what you can ingest right now......sounds like liquids? I would ask your nut if you could have diluted prune juice to help with the constipation... after you can start mushy foods, do some oatmeal that is finely grated, and later on, eat more flax seed in your foods and I consume some quaker oat squares to keep me going normal. However one does tend to become FOS (full of s***) on occasion and Milk of Magnesia is what my WLS surgeon told me to take. I prefer to eat things higher in fiber so read labels more carefully and find foods rich in fiber...adding fiber bran to your yogurt or make a smaller shake and mix that in too and make it pudding like might be an idea. Hope this helps....I know there are lots of other folks here who are FOS....so c'mon...help out here!

I mix Fiber Sure or Benefiber into my morning protein shakes. I can't even tell it's there and it keeps me from being FOS. Congratulations and Best wishes.

Hi J- I love Dr. Krause. I am a little over 12 weeks post-op. You will start feeling better really by the end of the second week. I think it's great that you are able to take in that much liquid. I could not get it all down. I took a little milk of magnesia. It help a lot. Make sure you attend the support groups for Bariatric patients . I find it really helpful and a lot of great tips given by others that are farther out. One other tip, when you cough or sneeze hug a pillow!! Best of luck, Romey
