I am just getting started on my journey...no date yet. Waiting on psych. eval on the 31st, but would like to get ahead of the game and try some protein powders. I have heard alot of talk about ANY Whey ...no taste, no odor. Is it true? Also, where would I be able to get some samples of any kind? I love this site, there are so many great people to answer all of my questions and I see that most of them are pretty comical, I like that. Hope to talk to some of you real soon. I would like to get to know people better on here and be able to talk to someone with something in common later Dawn

Welcome dawn! I hate the Any whey, i could smell it big time. My best advice to you is to go to bariatriceating.com and order the sample packs. It took me six months to find one i liked and that's how i found it. There were actually a few in there i liked. Good luck on your journey and let me know if you need anything. Hugs Linda

Hi Dawn: Congrats on the beginning of your journey to a new, healthy YOU! I, too, remember being in the same boat you are in now, and I got a protein powder "sampler" from www.bariatriceating.com. Good website, fairly good prices, yada yada. I had my surgery done at barix clinics and they now have a website that sells products too...www.barixclinicsstore.com...and I'm sure there are tons of other out there that I don't know about. Just don't go too crazy cuz like everybody says...your tastes will most likely change after surgery. In regards to the Any Whey that was a BIIIIG staple of mine for the first few months. It is "virtually" tasteless (it does flavor some things a little bit differently...like mashed potatoes for example) but for the most part I found it to be pretty darn tolerable. Now that I am further out, and can eat regularly, I don't rely on it as much as I used to because I can get my protein from my meals. I do highly recommend NECTAR by Syntraxx though...yum yum. Well, I hope that this is helpful to you. There's tons of great information and great people on this board....WELCOME Maria W.

Hi Dawn, Right now, I'm using the Any Whey in shakes, but only because I spent the money on a big container of it. All I can taste is "protein" in it. I don't know how people cook with it, as the product suggests. I have been going to my local Vitamin Shoppe and getting some ready to drink, just to try them out. I haven't found anything outstanding yet. You are smart to start with the protein right now. But be warned....I liked some of the powders before surgery, but after, I got so sick of dairy-like things. It was weeks of yogurt, sugar free pudding, etc. The protein shakes all had a thick milky consistancy that just wasn't appealing to me. So try to add some protein juices into your samples to see if you like them. Good Luck to you!! Brenda

Dawn, I have not tried any of my samples yet so I can't give you any feedback on taste, but I got my samples at vitalady.com She has just about every protein out there and offers them all in a sample. I have about 40 different samples I think. She even sent some recipes with them of some ways I never would have thought of mixing up the powders. I really like her site. Shawn M.
