I'm having a time deciding to see my surgeon when I have my one year post op next month. I saw him two weeks after my surgery, then again at three months. Let's just say that I have been disappointed in Henry Ford doctors of late. I saw my neurosurgeon earlier this month and he basically told me that if a person doesn't go back to work within a year of having neurosurgery, they probably won't ever go back. HELLO??? Why didn't he tell me this 15 + years ago??? I was so and almost gave him a few choice !! I guess that I just don't want my surgeon to be so down on me...and tell me that some of the things I have done are a . Besides, the $30 co-pay would buy me nearly a tank of gas!!

Hi Rhonda, Just wondering what your neurosurgeon has to to do with your wls surgeon? Yes go see Dr. Genaw. You do know he is up front about everything concerning this surgery. You also know that he and Dr. Carlin care very much for their patients and their progress. Let's face it we already know if what we are doing is right or wrong. If you don't want him to tell you what you are doing wrong~ then don't tell him what you are doing wrong. I personally feel that $30.00 is a small price to pay to make sure everything is going well and all of your levels are up to par. Besides your surgeon works from one of the best hospitals in the entire nation~why give that up because you don't want to here that you're not supposed to do some of the stuff you're doing? They tell us because they care~if they didn't they wouln't tell us. Take care, God bless you, Annette

The neurosurgeon is also part of the Henry Ford network as well as Dr Genaw. Dr. Malik didn't even flinch or say anything when I told him about my WLS, and he didn't even look at my lab results. I felt that I was now just another person to line his wallet! Actually, I got a better response from my OB/GYN when I saw him for an emergency in July. He saw my six-month bloodwork and said that mine were better than his!! As for the $30.00 - I am on social security, and with what I get each month, I am still BELOW poverity level. If I didn't live with my parents, I'd be out on the streets.....
