Food question for all of the "old timers"
Hi Kim!
I am a year and a half post op, and I need to eat 5 or 6 small meals a day in order to get my protein in. Usually I can't eat enough at one sitting to make all my protein in just 3 meals, and I don't eat much other than protein! I get that empty feeling too, so that is when I do a small meal (snack) of protein. My doc said he used to be against eating more than 3 times a day, but if you need to eat more often to get that protein, it is ok - as long as you don't slip into grazing!
Best of luck to you!

Yeah, I'm an "oldtimer"!!!!
I basically eat 3 meals a day, but get a protein snack in between br/lunch, and between lunch/dinner. Like a cheese stick or granola bar. Yes, the head hunger is a WHOLE different thing, but sounds like you are doing great! I don't think I really feel "hungry" either...kind of empty or sometimes feel a little like my blood sugar drops, so I eat something. Still don't eat nearly the amount I did pre-surgery, which is good.
Hugs, Theresa
I'll be 3 yrs this coming January and I eat 5-6 times a day. 2 of those meals are protein shakes. I do have low blood sugar so I think that is part of the reason I still do it. But I do get that empty feeling. Definitely head hunger which I am finding I have to control now. I feel better when I eat this way. I find that the protein shakes help control my appetite when I do eat my meals. Take care, Carey
