?? Dr. Wood
Hi everyone,
I don't post often but i read daily. I was wondering if anyone knew if something was going on with Dr. Wood from the CORI Center. My friend call to have a consult with him and was told he wasn't taking appointments and she meet with another CORI doctor she likes, so that was fine. But they called me this week and asked how i was and if i knew anyone who was interested in surgery. I did not because i have referred everyone i know. Well anyways i needed to make my 6 mo appointment and they told me he is only seeing patients on Fridays now for very short hours. Well my husband is seeing another doctor that is much closer to home and he said he doesn't suggest switching doctors but if i wanted to he would take over my case. He use to work with Dr. Wood and thinks very highly of him as do i but its getting very hard to see him and the 3 to 4 hour visits are killing me. I work on Fridays so i will have to take the day off to go. I don't know what to do. I'm almost 9 mos out and i have lost 97 of the 100 lbs i needed to lose. Do i need to keep seeing the surgeon or can my pcp follow me?
Sorry for such a long post, but if anyone was been thru this or has any thoughts about this it would be great.
Thanks,
Misty
Dr. Hendrick is near you. I'm sure he would take over your care as he was at one time a CORI surgeon. He is pretty cool and a very caring individual. The St. John Doctors are also former CORI surgeons and near the CORI office. I never have a wait when I go there.
Tele-marketing surgery? That is a bit odd even in my book.
If your PCP knows the workings of a GAP i don't see why that wouldn't work.

Yeah, He's cool and like I said a very caring doctor. All his his GAPs dig him. And he looks good on tv. Ask Susanne O. She thinks the world of him.
Anyway, you shouldn't have to go chasing your after care around. They should be there for you. That was a big problem for a lot of people. They would show up and wait 4 hours or be told top reschedule,,,,,, crazy stuff like that. It never happened to me though. They treated me pretty good and I only waited a little once.
I still can't get over the tele-marketing thing though. That's hilarious. There was a clown working there once who told my wife and some of the other workers that they were going to stand out in front of a mall and hand out flyers. "Excuse me but you're a bigg'n and look like you could use a little surgery." That went over like a lead balloon.

Dr. Hendrick is out of Henry Ford and has an office in Wyandott I believe. He used to be a CORI Doctor but split too.

He's a good guy. Looking at his website above I see he has Rachel as his RD. She's a sweetheart. Very easy to work with.
Give'm a call. You won't be diapointed.

i don't think i'd feel real comfortable with my doctor's office calling me and asking me for referrals. and if they have their patients waiting 3-4 hours at appointments i wouldn't feel comfortable recommending them to anyone anyway. sounds like they have more time to ask you to find them business than to actually treat you and care for your well being.
my PHCP seems to think that I have needs that sometimes require a bariatric surgeon's expertise, so i'd want to continue to have a relationship with a bariatric office and if i was you i'd consider using your husband's doctor. Dr. Wood might be a very good doctor but it sounds like your needs aren't being met and the solicitation calls sound like your doctor/patient relationship is being abused. in my opinion.
congratulations on being so close to goal. at 9 months that's fantastic!
