BCBS PPO Letter from Dr. enough?
My friend saw Dr S and he read her PCP's letter and said it was great but then Chucki read it and she thought it needed better documentation on wt loss--including dates and weigh ins at PCP's office. Does this have to be soo exact? Would it make it more difficult to have her submit it anyway ,then if it gets rejected deal with it?
Her PCP is reluctant cuz she never really went to him on certain dates but for years of weight control issues.
Need some board help!!!

BCBS doesnt require the documented attempts of weight loss, they just want to know that you have been seeing your PCP for 12 consecutive months while on some sort of DR prescribed diet (weigh****chers, jenny craig, diet pill, or whatever else they have tried) and had little or no results. I was told that 12 CONSECUTIVE MONTHS are the key words they are looking for. Hope that helps.

your response just made my night... I was so worried about that, cause I have tried diets constantly.. but I didnt go to my doctors office for weekly/bi-weekly weigh in's, etc. I was so worried about this..
I dont think I can say thank you enough... you just took a one ton weight of my entire families shoulders.
My PCP did not write a letter. He did have a questionairre to fill out and sign though (from Liv-Lite). They wrote up the letter of necessity and attached all the information from my PCP. Also, my PCP records include bi-weekly weigh-ins for almost 18 months. It was indicated at each weigh-in what 'diet' I was following. I did not see my PCP for every weigh-in, but the weight was shown in my records. I was approved in 1-1/2 weeks (BCBS of Texas....which I heard is really difficult for approvals).
