H. Pylori? Anyone know about?

I have been diagnosed with H. pylori infection. It is a bacteria of the stomach and duodenum which causes ulcers. What I was wondering is if anyone else on the board has had it or knows anyone who has had it with wls. I have to have an endoscope and see a gastro doc, but my understanding is that it is harder to treat in wls patients. Any info would be helpful, Thanks Wendy

Wendy; The endoscope is to make sure you don't already have an ulcer. They put me on two HIGH doses of antibiotics and it lowered my H pylori level but it never went completely away. I understand that if you have the infection, it might not go away in some people. I hope you are one that it goes away with the antibiotic treatment. Good Luck!

Hi Wendy, I was put on a prev pack for 2 weeks, and was fine after that~but that was pre-op. Hope they treat you with success. God bless you, Annette

Hi Wendy, A prev pack is three pretty strong antibotics, that you take together. It's been a while now so I don't recall the name of the drugs. Your Dr. should know what they are. Hope you feel better soon. God bless you, Annette

Wendy~My 9 year old was recently treated for this!! Granted she isn't a WLS patient but she was treated with two high doses of antibiotics for two weeks and is still currently on Prilosec OTC 2x daily!! The GI doc wanted her on something different but the insurance wouldn't pay for it...they are paying for the Prilosec OTC though!! She had lost 11 lbs (not good on a little body) and since treatment she has put the weight back on and is doing good!! Hope you get treated quickly!!! It's nothing to mess around with!!!
