Update on Leighsa Bennett...

Hi all! Nancy asked me to post a note here to OH on her daughter Leighsa...she's pretty tied up right now. Here are the details... Leighsa flunked her leak test. The opening into the intestines is too swollen so the barium just sat in her pouch. The guy running the test told her to gulp air...she said she isn't suppose to, they argued, he won so he had her gulping air for about 2 minutes.....saying that it might pass the barium through. Wrong move....she ended up getting sick, throwing up old blood, then fresh blood. That lasted during the night. Dr. Carlin said that she will probably have to stay a couple of extra days......he probably won't have her do the leak test again....will just start her slowly today with ice chips and as tolerated clear liquids and then hopefully home. She said the only pain she has had was the pain in her chest/pouch when she had to gulp the air and then vomited....otherwise the only problem was the catheter which they took out last night. She doesn't have any abdominal pain at all......oh, to be young again! She is walking all over and besides the swelling and vomiting she is doing excellent. Please continue praying for her. Thanks!
