Hey everyone, I am one month post op and I am on the "soft mushy" food stage. the last few days everytime i put something in my pouch it hurts. Has anyone else had this happen to them? Also, I have had a headache everyday for the past 8 days. I am wondering if this is because I am struggling to get in all my protein and fluids. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks so much for your feed back in return. Hugs, Di 254/220/154

It sounds to me like you are taking too big of bites and eating too fast. eating too fast makes you over full. You have to eat slow to give your pouch time to let you know when enough is enough. As for the headaches, i dunno. Hugs Linda

I get a headache if I don't drink enough water. You could be dehydrated. Best wishes.

at your stage i was told that as i tried new foods some would irritate my pouch and each time i did that i should go back to liquids for a day to let it settle down or it would keep hurting like you describe. it seemed to work.

I agree with Jay, step back and get on some liquids to let your pouch settle. Then when you start your foods back up go SLOW, small bites that are chewed til theres nothing left. The headache ???? Don't know. I know I got dizzy and spacey when I was dehydrated (some say I still am ) lol Just remember to keep sipping, all day long. I know it's easier said then done, but one trip to ER for dehydration will teach you the hard way that it's a heck of a lot easier to sip all day then to land in the hospital!!!!! Hugs, Laurie

Water your headaches to keep them at bay. When you are in the mush food time what works today might not tomorrow. It sounds like your pouch is rebelling. Go back to shakes/full liquids for a bit and lit it recoup. Then work them in slow BUT,,,,,,,,,,,,, Make sure you are not taking to long between eats. If you have to much down time in the beginning it will irritate you every time you eat. Small amounts more regularly seemed to do the trick for me. It's tough because you think you will get sick if you eat and that makes you anxious but you can get by. You have to show the pouch who's boss. kp
