Having the hardest time!

I thought getting approved by my insurance (BCN) was going to be the hardest thing. I was wrong. I got their approval and I am scheduled for surgery August 28th but now I need to get a "Clearance for Surgery" from my PCP and he told me yesterday that he doesn't give clearances. I have less than 2 weeks to go and he's being such a jerk. He told me he wasn't a hospital doctor so he didn't give clearances. Does this make any sense? What am I supposed to do now? I also need to have a chest X-ray, gall bladder ultra sound and a scope. I only need a referal for the scope and he was questioning me why I needed it. My only answer is because I need it for surgery. Then he questioned me about having an ulcer and he wanted to know if I have been complaining of one. Needless to say I left the doctors office with nothing and I cried for an hour after leaving there. He said that he would try to find an internist that takes my insurance and try to get me in before my surgery. The internist could give me clearance. I just don't know what to do.

Call your surgeon's office first thing this morning and explain to them what your pcp is saying. Ask him what you should do. Hopefully he'll have some answers for you. Wishing you the best, Laurie

Stacy,I would guess that your hospital preop should be ordered by your surgeon, call him and ask him who you can get this done through, maybee your pcp doesn't have hospital privledges???Doesn't sound real supportive , Im real sorry you have to deal with him at all .See what others have to suggest ,the hardest part the pre app is over hang in there and we will welcome you to the losers bench on the 28th its such a great place to be best wishes and a big to you .Marcia
