OT: had to call 911...kidney stone!
Last night, about 11pm I had a horrible pain in my lower back side.
I felt my Kidneys were failing me. It was so bad I was throwing up and shaking.
Called 911 because I couldn't drive myself. In the ambulance they took my bp and it was 160/110!!!!!
They gave me demoral to help the pain and it did a slight bit.
In the ER, they gave me more demoral and an anti nauseau med - I was barfing all over the place, and got it all over my shirt. They did X-rays and a CT Skan and the ER doc came in and said it was a "kidney stone" about the size of a nickel to a quarter that was causing the problem/pain.
One of the nurses said that having a kidney stone is more painful than having a child, though I don't know what that feels like, for all you Mom's out there, if this is true then wow, I applaud you for what you have endured.
I was in the ER for about 5 hours and then they had to call me a ride home, and I have been trying to rest since I got home around 430am.
I'm feeling much better today, almost as good as if nothing had happened, but they want me to contact a Urologist for follow up as well as my PCP.
Let me tell you that this was the worse pain I've felt in a LONG time......one I hope never to endure again!
Thanks for letting me share....have any of YOU had a kidney stone after WLS and how did you handle it?

Today at about 530pm -------------IT PASSED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
holy cow that thing is teeny weenie. How something so teeny could be so painful..........all I can say is WOW. I'm glad it's gone!
I can only say that it is about the size of 1/5th of a baby pea. I don't know how else to size it. And it has a real jagged edge.
So I feel better it's passed and hopefully that was the only one. Feeling much better tonight so far.
Thanks for all the replies/posts to my other post... Much appreciated!!!
