Last night I ended up at the ER with the result of a kidney stone. The CT scan indicated it was at the entrance of the bladder and I think it finally made it's way into the bladder as the severe pain is now gone...thank goodness!! Has anyone else had experience with these? I felt like I was going to die. OMG, it was bad!! Michelle

I have never gone through it, but I have heard it is very painful. Glad to hear you are feeling better. Shawn M.

Pain would be an understatement. I felt like I was going to die. The pain was worse the RNY (which really wasn't that bad). Thank you for your thoughts! Michelle

Michelle.....it is the worst pain I have ever experienced...and I had six kids!!! I had to have mine blasted via lithotripsey (sp) at Spectrum in Grand Rapids. My urologist is in Cadillac, but he and his partner travel to GR on Fridays to do the procedure. Mine were too big to pass but they kept trying. They were stuck in the kidney. Good Luck to you....I hope yours has passed on it's own! Take care! Jan

Jan, Did you have more than one? Did they find out why you were having them? I am hoping mine is malabsorption of the calcium and can get switched to something else. I am going to my PCP this morning and hopefully if there are more building in my kidneys they can blast them so they pass without pain. Thank you for your thoughts. Michelle

Michelle....yes I had several. Urologist said they were calcium based. I'm supposed to drink lots and lots of water to help prevent more from forming. So far I've been lucky cause it's been 3-yrs since I've had the problem. I would be interested to know if the problem increases with RNY and what the treatment is after the surgery. I'm scheduled for 8/22. Glad you are feeling better! Jan

Toni, I am feeling a bit better, atleast I believe it passed as the pain is not nearly as bad and I have been able to sleep (or lay down for more than 15 minutes) after leaving the hospital. The pain was worse than I have ever experienced before! Thank you for your thoughts. When is the next Bay City meeting? I have been wanting to make the last two, but first was readmitted to the hospital and the second (this month) we had to pick up my son's big boy bed! Always something! Michelle

Awww Michelle - Just out of surgery and now this. I sure do hope you are feeling better soon! Once they pass through to the bladder, I think you are on a better road. Let us know how you do. Julie

Julie, I will say, the road from surgery has been a bumpy one. First being readmitted for two days for complications from surgery after being home less than a week and now this. I think the stone passed into the bladder either while I was at the hospital or while I was still under the Demerol. I was finally able to sleep when we got home from the hospital. Then I slept pretty much all day yesterday. This morning I am still having pains, but not near as bad. I don't know if the stone did something to the tube that runs from the kidney to the bladder, if I have another one coming on, if I have a UTI or what. I have an appointment this morning at 10:40 with my PCP and hopefully will get some meds so I can start feeling better. I have to also contact my surgeon and hopefully he will switch me to something different than the Tums (for calcium). I know everything right now it all trial and error, so I am hoping it's just malabsorption of the calcium and when I switch to something else then it will take care of it. Michelle
