I believe you are correct on 18 months. I know that for a tummy tuck, it's a minimum of 12. I cannot say the 18 months is certain though.

I just discussed this with my surgeon. He said I could get my breasts done at twelve months post-op and tummy tuck at eightteen months post-op. Best person to ask would be your surgeon though. Seems they all have their own guidelines. Positive vibes, Megan

Hi Heather Megan is right, each surgeon seems to have their own preferences and they do go by the individual, as well. When I was 10 mos. out I called my surgeon because my hernia was getting larger and more uncomfortable for me. I was told they'd check it out at my 12 mo. appt. and probably wouldn't repair it until I was 18 mos. out unless I was in extreme pain...which I wasn't. When they saw it (and it has gotten even larger and has started to be painful) they jumped right on it, getting me set up with the PS my surgeon works with and everything. I'm sure the more "cosmetic" (to the insurance companies, anyway!) procedures are really case by case. My friend had a breast reduction done when she was only 6 mos. out...so, surgeons vary and so do patients. Keep us posted on what you find out for you, okay? Lizzie B
