Finally after waiting days for a return call to set up an appointment with the office that I was referred to, I took it upon myself to spend hours calling doctors in my area that are listed under my primary insurance. Most places either never heard of an MMPI-2 eval., didn't do them, or didn't take my 2nd insurance of Medicare. I finally found someone, and they are close, and are getting me in next week! I am so excited. I knew I could get it done through U of M, but they said it would take like 3 - 4 months to get an appointment. I will have this done next week, then as soon as Hurley gets my info they can send it off for insurance approval and then I can get my date. So Tuesday, August 15th at noon I will have my MMPI-2 psych eval done!!!!! Shawn M.

Yay you! Just remember - act normal! Don't tell them about the voices in your head. Don't tell them about your homocidal tendencies, and by all means, don't tell them that you want to lose weight so you can look good in clothes! I made that mistake, and apparently it was the wrong answer. I guess I was supposed to say I wanted to have surgery so I could be healthy and live longer! Take care, and good luck! Julie

The only problem with what you said is that telling him about all those things would be, "being myself".... LOL..... OK, maybe not the homocidal tendencies Well, I am on the right track, because I see my psychologist every month and I have been telling him that I want to lose the weight to be healthier so I can be involved more with my kids, when the truth is I want to be healthier so I can be involved more away from my kids. No really, I am going to be as honest as I can because I know that I have done my research, I know what I am getting into, I know what lifestyle changes I will have to make, and I know the risks vs. benefits for me. I am not too worried even though I do have a long psychiatric history. I see my doctors and I take my meds, that shows that I follow through with treatment and I do want to take care of myself. Well, anyway, thanks for the well wishes. I will post as soon as I know what the doc says. Hopefully all with go smoothly and I will get a date soon. Shawn M.
