Any protein drinks that aren't sweet?

Keto Slim has no sugar. It doesn't taste too sweet to me but I guess that's a matter of personal taste. It's a shake though and that sounds like you are trying to avoid that fare. Unjury or Beneprotein? Add that stuff to something and see what happens? kp

Yes, Kevin, I'm not a "sweet" person. Well.....I'm a sweet "person", but not crazy about many sweets!!!! LOL!!!! After surgery, I'd like an occassional sweet "shake", but if I have to drink a few a day, it would be hard for me. If I could find a protein soup or such that would be palatable, that would be a good thing. Of course, after surgery my tastes may change and maybe I'll love sweets!!! Gosh, I sure hope not....That would be just my luck!!!!

if you mean a drink thats not overly sweet i find the zero carb isopure powder to be less sweet than most. other than that there's the unflavored protein powders.

Thanks Jay. I sometimes find things sweeter than many people. I have bought some protein bars that to me are way too sweet that others have thought weren't sweet enough. Just a matter of personal taste, but I have always preferred that taste of food-food to sweet food. And never want the "sweet" taste to be the last taste in my mouth, so even when I do have a dessert or something, I always save one bite of food from my meal. My Mom was the same, so it's heredity!!!

Hi Patty! Some people may disagree with me, but I love the GNC 50 Gram Slam...there's milk chocolate, creamy vanilla and banana. One of the things I like about it is that it's not too chocolatey (sp?) or overly sweet. You might get a can & try it...they also carry the AnyWhey powder that was mentioned earlier, and it really is tasteless, so you can add it to all sorts of things. Good luck! You'll find the product that works best for you and then you'll swear by it! Lizzie B

Thanks Lizzie, Your'e right...I have to find one I like. And I like knowing there are tasteless ones that I can add to other things....that will make it easier.

Protein drinks are sickeningly sweet to me. I ordered a sample pack from bariatric eating and couldn't even stand the smell when I opened the cupboard. It was so overwhelmingly sweet to me. So, I resorted to getting my protein in through my food. Fortunately, I haven't had any issues with types of food. I can eat just about any type of meat I want. However, as I'm a year out, my nut wanted me to add a protein supplement to boost my protein closer to 90 g a day. So, what I've been doing is adding a scoop of unflavored powder to about 12 oz of V8 juice. I mix it really well with a small whisk. It's like drinking cold tomato soup. Doesn't sound too appealing I suppose but it does the trick for me. I've also mixed it with OJ. That wasn't too bad, but the OJ was much thicker. I'm one of those people that has "texture" issues with food, so that was harder for me to drink. It's taken some trial and error for me, but when I find something that works, I stick with it until I'm sick of it...LOL!! Good luck! Tina

Hi Tina, Yea, I think I'd get real sick of having numerous sweet shakes throughout the day, especially during the liquid stage right after surgery. I don't even like cereal, because its sweet. I'll get some sweet ones for once in a while and buy some unflavored. Like you said, it'll be trial and error.....

Hi Patty, Jeff's on Phase 2 of the post op diet, and he's been liking the vegetable soup with 1\4 powdered milk and one scoop of the GNC whey protein powder (20g - tasteless). I use a hand blender and all the veggies get chopped up, and the milk makes it kind of cream based. I tried it too, and it's not too bad. I'm really not a cooked veggie person, so I was suprised. I couldn't taste the powder at all, though, and GNC had small packs for about $11 each, instead of the can for $22. The powder mixes really well with everything we've tried so far, cottage cheese, all soups, pudding (made with a mix), smoothies. The Unjury powder was really smooth, too, and the scoopful wasn't as big for the serving of protein, but I think it was only 13g. Good luck! I hope you find something yummy, if you do, please post. Jeff is not a sweets fan, either. Love, Kim.
