Hey all, I am 3 weeks post op and I tell you.....I just want a break. I am sooo tired of counting fluid, counting protein. It has been soooo hot I don't want to drink since I am still on this stupid liquid diet. 5 weeks of nothing but liquid. I want to CHEW something. LOL And I am hungry!!!! I go see my NUT tuesday for the "soft mushy" diet. What kinds of stuff do you get to eat then. I CAN' T WAIT!!! I know I am just being a cry baby but dang.LOL I just needed to vent to people who know what I am going through. My husband just says "you knew you would have to do this" Yeah I did but somedays it just sucks! LOL. Does anyone else feel this way? Thanks in advance for your feedback Hugs, Di

I felt the same way... I started pureed foods early! I couldn't take it anymore! Both my parents had this surgery, by differnt doctors. We were all on differnt regimines. I was told to do liquids for two weeks post op. I followed my mom's schedule from the Barix clinic, and I was fine! She had to do liquids for a week, thick liquids for the second week and pureed for the third, and in her fourth week she started soft foods. I started with cottage cheese pureed with some natural pineapple juice to thin it out...WOW!!! It was heaven! I was fortunate to have no side effects or complications from my surgey~ You hang in there...you will be enjoying food again, just in small amounts...very soon! I am down almost 90 pounds in less than 5 months! It was all worth the agony, trust me!!!!

Di, I know what you mean and yes every Doctors diet regime is different, I was so scared to eat anything that I stayed in my liquid diet anf pureed diet a good week longer.. When I was in the pureed stage, I prueed some clam chowder soup and I felt like I died and went to heaven, it was so good. I craved the salty foods and all I could have was the sweet protein drinks. But be patient this too shall pass. Take care, Janice

Hi Di.... I felt that way too, however it becomes more tolerable one day at a time. Though that sounds easier said than done! For 'mushy' I ate: scrambled eggs, mashed potatoes, lean cuisine mac and cheese (low fat- but has carbs, one meal would last me 3-4 meals!) I ate lots of chicken noodle soup, and had some baby foods in my cupboard including (no meats) squash, bananas and pears. You can blend most canned meats, with fat free mayo, and also you want the consistency to be that of baby food. No chunks. It was hard for me at first, all those popsicles and jello and puddings. UGH! However, one thing I found myself doing (and I don't advise this to anyone so don't do it and tell me later!) I bought Chili Cheese Fritos in the small bags, and would chew them up and then spit them out. I loved the spice on them. And it provided me with crunch but I didn't dare swallow them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I also ate ice chips and flavorred it with crystal light.....OR just make ice cubes using crystal light - freeze and chop up!!! Try to think of it this way: It's only temporary....and before you know it you'll be shopping for new foods to eat!!! hugs girl and keep up the great work! Stacey

This stage seems to last forever! It totally sucks! Sorry, but it does. You will be over it and look back on it with fond memories however. I have actually had days where I longed for the newbie phase! Although right now I am right there with you since I had this flu. I haven't eaten more than a bite or two of anything in 2 weeks!! And I too am sick of pushing fluids! But I have lost 8 lbs in 2 weeks and that is more than I have lost in a short period since early on in my surgery. So it works! Follow your diet and don't get too anxious, there will be the day when you are nibbling stuff you shouldn't and wishing for these early days. So hold on and keep going. Your gonna be HOT! Wendy

Well, Lady Di, hopefully by the time you read this you will be eating some mushy stuff. How many pounds are gone forever now? How is your energy level? Julie
