Introducing myself

Hi all: I've been lurking for a few weeks and wanted to introduce myself. After several weeks of intensive research and over a year of thinking about WSL, I've finally made the decision to do it. Both my mother and sister had RNY with great success, so I've had some personal experience with the lifestyle changes I'll be facing after surgery. A little about me... My name is Pam and I am 36 years old, single and live in Saginaw. I work in Pontiac, so my "home area" covers Saginaw, Genesee and Oakland counties. :-) I've been overweight since the Freshman 15 turned into more than 15 lbs and slowly progressed until I hit the obese catagory. Yo-yo dieting gets pretty tiring after all those years and I want to lose the weight I need to become healthy again. Based on my sister's recommendation I plan to have my surgery at Hurley Medical Center in Flint and will be attending their informational seminar on August 15th. hi pam i live in flint and had my wls at hurley also in may of 2001 and i had a wonderful surgeon there (dr.obeid ) and he is great you will love him . if ya need some to email or chat with on the phone email me and let me know if i can help you.good luck

Hi Pam...Welcome!!! I am in the process of getting WLS. I am going to Dr Foote in Grand Rapids at MMPC. I have my appoinment with him tomorrow. There is also a support group meetig soon in Bay City. Toni will be posting that soon. Hope you can make it there!! Great group of women that have had it done or still in the process. (men are welcome there too) Again Welcome!! Hugs Judy

Dear Pam, WELCOME!! Good to have you here. You will find people here sincere and fun, caring and honest! Plus, really helpful!!! I had open RNY July 19, 2005 and am 19 lbs from goal. I saw a plastic surgeon on July 29, 2006 for a Tummy Tuck and am waiting Insurance Approval and a surgery date - hopefully sometime in November 06. I'm in Mount Pleasant -- which isn't too far from Saginaw. And, I am going to be doing alot of shopping later on!!!
