hanging skin

Having surgery Monday and, of course, thinking about everything that goes with it. For those of you that have lost 100 or more, did you all have the sagging skin? Is it possible to lose that much and have your skin stay tight? I feel like I will be ashamed of my body if I have sagging boobs and tummy. Doesn't this prevent you all from enjoying your weight loss. I want to look good after my weight loss. I may be overweight now, but my skin is tight and the girls are where they should be, not at my knees lol. If my insurance doesn't cover tt and breast lift, there is no way I can pay for it myself. Ugh! I am obsessing big time. STOP IT JANET!

There are people that lose 100 lbs and look pretty good, actually! Especially if you start out at say, 230 or smaller.... I had a friend that started at 230 and she looks great! She's in a size 6 and her clothes look great on her. She says she's a little wrinkly on her tummy, but not hanging. She is also 29, so that helps when you are younger...your skin comes back pretty well. I don't know how old you are, but you can kind of guess-timate....also has to do with your skin type. But I started out at 285 and before my tummy tuck, it was sagging pretty bad, but it was still better than being big and round! Just my opinion! Try to take one day at a time....you can do this! Hugs, Theresa

I lost 151 lbs to date, and I am 47. There may be a difference in the outcome as each individual loses weight in places differently. I lost my weight first in my face, neck and arms, then my legs, waist and hips. I was a 48DDD before surgery, I am now a 36DD, however with age, gravity pulls things downward and sometimes that's just the way things go. I have an appointment with a plastic surgeon tomorrow and I too cannot afford out of pocket surgeries. However, I have osteoporosis in two of my lumbar, chronic back pain and a PETITE frame. Therefore my excess skin being removed is medically necessary and far from cosmetic. I have 3 letters of recommendation providing this statement by my Family Doctor, my Chiropractor and my other Doctor. If I cannot have my breasts lifted because insurance won't pay for it then they stay the way they are, and I am not worrying about it simply because I would rather have a flat tummy than perky boobs! But, each person is different. The outcome of each person who goes through WLS is different and I would say that you just need to focus on the here and now and manage getting through surgery without worrying about what will happen one year from now. Every one obsesses, and everyone worries to some degree. It's normal. But when I went into surgery last year, I was not worrying about this then because I knew from all my research that everyone was different and we lose weight unique to our body, our frame size, and our uniqueness. You will look good. Trust in that, and go with that, and keep the positive thoughts as to what it will take to look the way you want in your head instead of worrying about things you don't even know will happen.

I am one of those people who started at 235lbs and now am at 145lbs. Yes, I have my grandmother's apron, her batwings and my boobs look like tube socks with tennis balls in them. This has not taken anything away from my weight loss!! I still want to lose about 15lbs, and then I will consider that when I get there. Exercise is one of the keys!! You are jumping way too far ahead of yourself. Take it one day at a time!!

Janet, I have lost over 100 lbs in 6 months and everything is hanging! I will be 49 in 2 weeks and I think I look great with my clothes on. Don't ever be ashamed of your body, sagging or not. I work out 6 days a week and that really helps. Once you are on the losers bench - you look at life so differently that sagging skin will be the last of your worries! Don't worry you'll look great. Loving life in Bay City, Kristy

I have lost 205 pounds , and my skin is awful. but you can hide it. Go to meijer and get a girdle, a push up bra works great too. some of my plastics are covered by insurance, i'm just too chicken to go and do it. Let me tell ya, the skin doesn't look as bad as the fat. hugs Linda
