after a long time struggle, I am getting a surgery date sometime end of August
Hi all,
I created my account here sometime in Jan-Feb of 2005 and I was looking forward to having an RNY surgery. I went to the Northpointe health center and met Dr. Doyle and everything seemes to be on track. I was asked to signup for the pre-op educational classes, did a liquid diet, lost some 35 pounds and when it came to see Dr. Krause, the surgon, I was told that my insurance needs a 12 months of diet history before getting approval. At that point I got so mad at myself and Northpoint for making it feel so easy, and if you haven't guessed it, I gained the weight I lost!
I tried to lose weight for 12 months and I ended up where I started. At the 12 months appointment, everything was ready and aparently the insurance has approved me (but no letter was sent to me). At that time and after reading some 2 books about bariatric surgery, I decided to not do the surgery and actually try to diet again, this time it was the weigh****chers, core diet.
I went there, lost some 13 pounds and gratually gained it back. It has been 6 months since I decided to not do the surgery. Yesterday I visited Northpointe and met with my doctor there and I decided to do the surgery this time. I got fed up with dieting all my life, diet after diet and I am never gonna lose my 350 pounds and get back to a normal size that I was some 10 years ago.
Since I decided to go ahead, I called Krause's office today and to my surprise I found out that the insurance has approved my surgery some 5 months ago, that made my day and I decided to setup a date.
Tomorrow I will hear back from the surgon's office to get a date sometime late in August. I think the next few weeks are going to be so crazy and I am really looking forward to be active in this website to keep myself motivated and motivate others.
I will keep everyone updated with my weight struggle
That's great!! You will be so happy with your decision. I have also dieted most of my life and it really never worked for me. I went through the whole approval process and my surgery is scheduled for August 28th. I know I have made the right decision and if anyone tries to tell me different I just reply with "I have made a decision to save my life" and that is what you are doing. Best of Luck to You!!
