Well, I'm alive. The Barix yogurt peanut bars aren't too bad. I'm not starving - yet. Went to my two week pre-op appointment yesterday. The one where they scare the stuffin' out of you with all of the complications that can occur. I started getting a little anxious, thinking about the fact that two of my three children won't be there, and I won't even be able to hug them and kiss them before my surgery. One is in Europe and one is downstate working. I might be able to see the downstater before I go in. I went last night to see a fellow DS'er from the DS board, Maryanne. She is at Spectrum Blodgett, which is where I will be having my surgery. She was very sleepy (had just come back from recovery) but was resting comfortably and told me she was "a little bit uncomfortable" and that was all. I can handle that. Spectrum was nice - private rooms. The countdown begins..... Julie in Ludington

Hi Julie, Just wondering if you would mind telling me what the 2 week pre-op fast consists of. That out of the way, hope everthing goes well for you. Get your mind set and get someone to come to the hospital to push you the first night. My surgery was at 730 am and I wanted to be up walking no later than 500 pm. At 300 i asked to walk and they told me no that it hadn't been long enough even though it had. Boy those first steps were some of the hardest of my life. Wishing you lots of luck. Dawn

Julie: You'll do fine with the pre-op fast ... keep looking ahead to the goal. At Blodgett, they will wake you up in the middle of the night to make you walk, so don't worry about anyone having to push you. They have very good care there. The walking is to make you get out of the hospital faster, so cooperate. It's tough when you're sleeping and then you have to wake up, but it's worth it in the long run. Let me know if you need a helping hand while you're in GR. I work downtown and don't live all that far. Will be glad to help out. Good luck and hang in there ... it is worth it. Eileen

Well, it's the end of the day and I've got this weak, hungry dying to chew on something feeling. I was thinking I wouldn't get that until the second or third day. I'm cranky, and eyeballing those leftover chicken wings in the fridge saying...well..they are protein...and DF wants to go for a walk and I'm so hungry and filled with water and weak feeling that I don't want to. I hope this feeling is over soon! Wah!!!!
