pain meds

hi, i just wondered i am allergic to codine,vicodine and morphine what do they give you with this problem it seems like just about everyone has gotten these meds at time of surgery. thanks also isn't there a list of meds for after surgery? thanks again barb

I'd talk to your surgeon prior....they will come up with something that you can use. There are many. I am allergic to morphine too, so they gave me shots of demerol when there, and I had vicodin to come home with. Mmmm... There's got to be something you can use. Ask them, they'll help you. Let your surgeon know and he will prescribe you one that you are not allergic to. I have taken Davarcet for pain and it works really well. Plus maybe your surgeon will let you have a epidural for pain I had one for my revision and it was wonderful if you are having a open procedure. Good luck Tricia
