Hi everyone.. I have read probably 25 profiles in the last few days, anda whole bunch of them mentioned going in before their WLS to get their filter installed?? I can't recall ever reading this before. We leave tomorrow evening for Michigan, and our first appointment with the surgeon is Wednesday, with surgery Thursday. We've done alot of preop info over the phone, but this never came up. Can someone explain? Also, here's what I have packed/or will buy there for him to eat post-op. So do I have pretty much everything? I would prefer to bring it with me, so if you see something missing, please tell me! And how hot is it going to be in Pontiac? We are in the hottest summer I can remember in Oregon since I was 4. You could literally cook on the sidewalk. Yuck. Shorts and Tshirts going to be OK? Will we need jackets for evening? I checked the weather site on the net, but the weather for where we are here says Warm-Hot, so the site leaves much to be desired. LOL Food List - Carnation Instant Breakfast - No sugar added Carb solutions High Protein shake (premade) Chicken and Beef broth (Campbells) SF Popcicles LiquiMax vitamins - this is liquid, has no iron supplement. What kind is best to take? Should I take a hand blender for other soups, or will that be too much too soon? Any suggestions, please post or email me!! Thanks, Kim

greenfield filters are commonly placed in the patient prior to surgery ta capture and dissolve any blood clots. it it is a relatively painless procedure determined by the patients activity level. obese patients in wheel chairs are routinely filtered. usta ps. kevin does not recommend broth. make the regular chicken noodle and veg beef soup and skim the broth. the stuff in the cans sucks.

Thanks Usta! I didn't think of that for the soup, but that would probably taste a whole lot better. On the filter, I'm going to assume that if the Dr thought it would be likely that we would have had the conversation already, and I'm not going to borrow more to worry about. Thank you for explaining it for me... Kim
