WOW Moments & questions?!?!?!?
Hi Kathy,
Congratulations on you terrific progress so far~ you are doing wonderful and it sounds like you are feeling much better.
Remember when you eat, EAT YOUR PROTEIN FIRST! After you get your protein in if there is enough room left you may want to try a bite of veggies, fruit, or what have you. I am 7 months out now, and tried my first salad about a month ago. I ate very little of it, and have only had A bite or two of salad since then, Except for tabouli salad which I found out that I love I add a little bit of hommus and a tablespoon of anywhey protein powder~yummy. I found that I was afraid to try new foods also. When you are ready to try them you will. Take your time, there's really no hurry. There was a period of time after my surgery when I feet extremely tired. I found out the more exercise I got in the less tired I felt. I have an abundance of energy these day's. You will get your energy some day too. Even at 7 months out I am still sensitive to many foods. I can not tolerate meat. Sometimes I may get away with eating very moist chicken, but mostly not. I dump on cashews, peanuts and S.F. chocolate. I can handle 1/2 teaspoon of simply jiff peanut butter, any more than that & I get sick. To help rid yourself of the heavy pouch syndrome you may want to go back to the basics (broth, sf Jell-O, sf pudding, protein shakes, water, and warm tea) for a couple of days then try again. You will get the hang of it before to long. Take care of yourself Kathy.
God bless you,
Annette
Hi Annette, Thanks so much for the encouragement! I keep telling myself that I will get the hang of this. I know I will. I did have a little chicken breast today but for the most part I have been sticking with water, protein drinks, and sf popsciles. Those help me so much... I feel so hydrated when I have a popscile for some reason. Thanks again for the encouragement & great advice!!
By the way... You look awesome in your new pics. I had to look at your name to see who you were!!!
Kathy
Hey Kathy,
I know what you mean about the popsicles. They just seem to do the trick. It's been so long since I've been able to post here that I'm not sure if anyone remembers me lol. Thank you for your compliments. I feel great. A little tired lately other than that, I'm good.
God bless you,
Annette
I am not going to give you any words of wisdom, since I have not had my surgery yet, but something caught my eye when I was reading your post. You said that you bought fat free dressing. From my experience with buying salad dressings, fat free mean more sugar and more carbs. I would go for the light done right or the carb free dressings. I may be totally off here, but that is what I think from things I have read and the labels I have read. I would check that label before you put even one bite into your mouth. Good Luck and congrats on such success with all you have been through.

Hi Shawn, after I read that I went and checked the bottle and it is the light done right. It has 4.5 g Fat & 2 g of sugar & 2 carbs for 2 tablespoons.
I remember someone on here saying that usually FF means more sugar. So thanks for reminding me. I also noticed at Meijer's that they have South Beach dressing that falls in line with our diet, but they only had Ranch and I am not a fan of Ranch.
Thanks again!
Kathy
Kathy,
I am glad I could help. I really never thought at the point I am at, I would much of anything to contribute on these boards. I have been reading and lurking for a few months but only posting for a short time. I never have much advise to give, only encouragement. But, hey, I actually knew something that could help a post-op! How cool is that. Well, anyway, I hope when you do endulge in a salad you enjoy it and it doen't bother your grouchy pouch.

Hi kathy,
So glad to hear things are going well. And a huge congratulations on your weight loss!!! How great is that?!?!?!??! I'm keeping you in my prayers. Oh, and also, I wanted to make sure you checked the sugar content in the Caesar dressing....so many store-bought dressings are loaded with sugar. Take care. ------ Patty
