Blue Cross denied my TT
I'm so sad and confused why Blue cross denied my TT. They stated in the letter that it is not medically necessary to have a TT. It took over 2 months for them to tell me that. I called them today and they told me I can appeal but I don't know where to start on that and what else can I say that my surgeon hadn't stated they saw the pictures. I have a hernia and need my gall bladder out too so what more would it cost them to approve the TT. MAN I'M SO UPSET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sorry for the venting.. If anyone has suggestion, answers been through the appeal process for the TT please, PLEASE help!
Renee
Renee,
The same thing happened to me...I was always thought if u lost 100 plus pounds Blue Cross/Blue Shield would pay for a TT. I had my plasic surgeron send a letter and pictures and it was still denied. They said it was "cosmetic"!. I appealed it and still lost. That process took months.
I ended up paying out of pocket and it was so expensive. I really needed it so I had no other choice but to pay.
Best of luck..
Robin
Oh Renee, I am so sorry. I know how much you wanted this. I would not give up though.
Matt is currently waiting for approval and his hopes are really high. I have not said anything to him, but it has been my fear he will be denied as well. He has been working out and getting ready. He never works out, so I am not saying anything negative because I know this is good for him. He is sitting on pins and needles as well.
Did Marshall give you any suggestions? They are usually pretty good at getting people approved.
Terri
Thank you everyone that responded.
At this point I really haven't gotten any advise from Dr. Marshall's office since it only happened yesterday. However I did call Blue Cross and the person I spoke to there said I should appeal and appeal until they are sick of hearing from me until they finally approve me so that is my plan. I'm going to my PCP and get a letter from him and Dr. Marshall's office is giving me a letter and then I'm resubmitting the information. Yesterday morning I was upset by the afternoon I was angry. I will never get my stomach flat on my own. I understand BCBS point that I don't have rolls and rolls to get rid of and I'm sure there are people that need it more than I do and they are looking at that but I'll be damned if I give up I will continue to fight and fight. At the end of the fight win or lose I'll know I gave it my best and didn't quit trying.
Thanks again for your responses,
Renee
Hi Renee,
Take Carey's advice. I had Dr. DiNick and he is FANTASTIC!!!! I too had a hernia and they were able to easily get me approved. Many PS don't know how to deal with the insurance companies but they do. I paid 0 out of pocket. God Bless and good luck! Email Carey personally I am sure she can help you out. Take care.---Toni
