I'M HOME, AGAIN....
I finally arrived home about a hour ago. Wow, that is a road I do not want to go down again. On Monday I got my staples and drains out. At the office they asked me several questions, one being 'have you had any dizzy spells'. Reply was always the same - nope. Tuesday morning I had a dizzy spell. Called Dr. Pesta's office and they said they would get the information to Dr. Pesta and to call back if it happened again. Three hours later I had a BM that was bloody (black AND red). Ten minutes later I had another one. And ten minutes later I had another one again! Called Dr. Pesta's and they told me to get to Bi-County immediately. Almost four hours later we arrived at Bi-County ER. Dr. Pesta was still in surgery so we waited in the ER room. When he came in we discussed what was going on. He said he wanted to admit me for observation and do some blood work to make sure I would or would not need a transfusion. He also told me that he thought this problem may have been connected with the Lovenox that I was on and I was to discontinue taking it. Wednesday morning Dr. Pesta came in just as the nurse was getting ready to do a third blood draw. My first two showed my hemoglobin to be excellent. He said that providing this one came out fine then I could probably go home. And if I did not have more bloody BM. An hour later I had another bloody (again, black and red) BM. They said this might put my going home on hold. Four hours later, another one. Okay missy, you are staying the night at Bi-County again. Later that night, another one...same as the previous. I was getting frustrated. This morning I had another BM and it was starting to become 'normal' with no black and very little red. They took blood and it was comparable with the previous draws. Had another BM and again, it was getting better. Finally was able to leave about 6:30 pm. It is thought that since I did not have a BM for five days after I came home that this was blood from surgery and it finally made it's way out. Between that and the Lovenox I was a resident at Bi-County, again, for two days.
It feels good to be home....

Brandee,
Thank you! Spending more time at the hospital was not what I had planned. Dr. Pesta was very concerned with my blood levels though and wanted to keep me so they could monitor me, in case I needed a transfusion or had internal bleeding. He also knows that I live north (2-1/2 hours) and decided it would be best to keep me rather than me travel numerous times. Thank goodness for that! I am feel much better now and hopefully things are going to be good from here on out.

Char,
It is great to hear from you! I hope things are going well for you also.
Eek.. protein and water! Well, I am getting the protein in, atleast most of it. But the water is another issue. I was doing okay before I went back to Bi-County. But I think I got flooded with IV's and have not been able to drink much today. Bad me. It will come back though. Thank you for your words of encouragement!
