ITS A NO GO FOR ME

Had my consultation today...was told after I was through with the dr I would see the surgery scheduler. Well I am not having the WLS now. I was told because I had previous surgery that my stomach was involved with the dr would not do WLS on me. He did call dr Foote in grand rapids and I am now getting paper work to fill out from his office. I will probably have to have the Duodenal Switch. I am not thrilled at all over this. I feel like I was kicked in the guts. I am now so down in the dumps I could just cry. Thanks to everyone that was pulling for me...it really meant alot to me. I will keep lurking about here and I will let you know what happens with dr Foote. Hugs Judy

Oh Judy! I'm so sorry to hear this. Maybe Dr. Foote will have other recommendations! Hang in there and please continue to use us for support. Well this is MY opinion only BUT here it goes anyway. MMPC ( Dr. Foote's office) is the VERY best!! There are 3 surgeons over there.. Dr. Foote, Dr. Kemmenter and Dr. Baker. Dr. Baker has been doing these surgeries since the 70's. so in MY opinion you will be in GREAT hands. Pam

Hi Pam I was just reading up on the DS board and it looks like I will have a hard time getting approval from the insurance to cover it. I feel even more down in the dumps now... I did go to one of Dr Foote's seminars in April and I was happy with him then. Its just a long way from home to be kept for a few days...but I will deal with that when the time comes. If it comes. have you tryed hurley dr obied does revisions all the time so he works on people that have had stomach surgery all the time and he has a 0 mortality rate .. hurley is a center of excellance and its alot closer then other places i live in saginaw and if you wanna talk about it i would be more than happy to meet up somewhere but hurry im going in for surgery in 6 days ill bring all my information that i have so you can look it over if you want

Hi Curt...the problem i have is 4 years ago i had a hernia wrapped around my esophagus and there is scar tissue there. so i have to see another dr and be cut open to see if i can have RNY or DS. I have been reading about it and seeing what its about. i guess the problem i might have is the BC/BS PPO approving it. where is saginaw are you? Hugs Judy

Judy, Judy, Judy....... DON'T Y OU DARE GIVE UP!!! LOL there I got to give you a kick in the pants this time. LOL This will all work out. I read one of Dr. Baker's books he wrote with tow other woman and let me tell you....He sounds AMAZING!!!! GR has one of the best hospitals I have been too. My children go there often with their illness. You will be in GREAT care there. Maybe this is where the Lord is leading you. Follow His lead Judy. There is a purpose for all of this. I am not giving up so there!! LOL I have met with Dr Foote already at his seminar back in april. I liked him alot but hubby said it was to far to go because of gas prices. Awww Judy! I could just cry too! But DON'T GIVE UP! I agree on seeing another Dr., and as Curt said, his Dr. does many revisions and stomachs that had other work on them. Many have been approved thru him too! Call them!! Remember, it's not the end....just a bump in the road! Hugs, Theresa
