Confused

Hello All, It is me again. I always seem to be confused and looking for guidance. I guess what better place than here to ask for it. For those who don't know, I was scheduled for surgery for July 10 in Warren with Dr. Wood. As of now, I am living with my husband with my parents back in my homestate of CT due to my husband having an affair with a 20 year old. We are getting counseling and working things out. The dilema is whether to transfer my surgery to CT and go through the whole approval process again just to have the surgery where family is. They all don't want me to have the surgery in MI alone, but I really don't want to wait and go through the approval process again. You all know how grueling and long it can take. I am nervous to travel there alone and go through this alone. My husband will be able to meet me there the day I get out of surgery and take me back home from there. I just feel confused about getting from the airport to the hospital and going in for this major surgery alone. For those of you who have been through it, can you imagine doing so? Would you cancel and have it done in CT or go through with it. I am so confused about what the right thing is to do. And, with all the emotional stuff going on with me, I'm not sure I can handle it. On the other hand, I feel it will give me something positive to look forward to and concentrate on. Besides I'm sure you all can imagine how much I want to look good after my husband having an affair with a younger woman. What do you all think?

First of all, the affair had nothing to do with how you look/looked. If he's inclinded to mess around on you, it wouldn't matter if you are a size 2 or a size 20. It was his lack of committment to you. Don't take 20+ years like I did to figure this out. Get fit and healthy for YOU. That said, I would see if the current approval could be done with a surgeon in your area (CT). Then you would still have the approval and only need the pre-surgical work-up by the new surgeon. I don't think you will lose anything by checking out surgeons in your area. If you find one you like as well as or better than Dr. Wood then do it there. If however you don't find a surgeon you like or you find out your insurance will consider it out of network or something that would in turn cost you more than air fare, hotel, travel accomidations then I say go for it in Michigan. Above all else you heed to have peace with WHATEVER your decision is! I have to say I agree with Sheryl on it wont matter if you are a 2 or a 20 and you need to do it for YOU! Good luck! Jennifer
