This makes me wonder

I watched the same exact show last night with my DH. It was so eery for me to watch this because it makes me wonder if I would have ended up like that years down the line, and how I was in denial about my condition. It also makes me realize the choice I made was the right choice. Suzanne 300/150

Some people think obesity is a laughing matter. That clip was not funny to me but hurtful. It really hurt me to see her slapping her belly and stuffing her face. She could have atleast put a shirt on.

We live in America where people still put on fat suits on tv for laughs (i.e. Martin Short), where it's okay to laugh at fat people and if they don't laugh along, they're "bitter" but if they make fun of themselves they have a "good attitude" and are "jolly" or "cool". I used to make fun of myself for being fat because it disarmed others so that if they made fun of me i could pretend to just laugh and they wouldn't think they were hurting me. pure b.s., total defense mechanism born out of feelings of hopelessness. Thankfully WLS gave me another option and changed my life.

That was sad for sure. I too hope someone is really helping her, not video taping her for the world to poke fun at. I used to laugh at myself on the outside but really I was dying in the inside, in more ways than one!

That just made me so sad.....how some people think being overweight is a laughing matter....just so sad... Maria
